Claire's POV
Gary's statement had my mind rushing and my heart beating much faster. I knew the things that were running through his mind weren't good at all, but this was taking it too far. What was he trying to mean by weighing the worth of an entire world? "What's that supposed to mean?"
He looked back at me, fear flashing in his eyes when he noticed my anger, "Oh, you weren't supposed to know that," he said, backing away from me.
"Then why did you tell me?" I asked him. 'That's just even more messed up…'
"Because I knew you wouldn't leave me alone if I didn't tell you," he said.
"You want me to leave you alone then?" I asked the boy, half expecting that he agreed with the question. I wasn't exactly in the mood to attend to someone who was ready to abandon everything that we'd worked for. We'd trained so hard and he'd trained along with me. How was someone like this an artra to begin with?
