Kevin's POV
Charles remained quiet for a while as he watched my younger self cry. He knew why he couldn't be saved, but he hadn't thought to use his brother's power to grant wishes to try and get out of his problem. "I guess the magic that decides my fate is more powerful than your power to grant wishes," he said.
"No, there is one way. I'd never been offered an option by my empathic power, but when I tried to grant your wish, I received an offer," the crying boy told his brother.
"What was that?" Charles's eyes had a glint of hope for the first time in a long time since he'd found out that he was fated to die, but Kevin's smile was not a happy one as he did not rejoice in the look he'd brought out of his brother. Nonetheless, he was happy to give the boy the answer to that question.
"My life for yours…" Charles' expression fell.
