Chereads / Mirror (Book 2 of Broken) / Chapter 11 - A Graceful Beauty

Chapter 11 - A Graceful Beauty

It has been a week now. And i've done all i can to meet the taste of Victor Heignz, but still, there was still no letter found under my pillow.

Is my looks not enough?

"...Olivia?"

I looked at Amber who just called me. "What?"

She looks worried. "Is there something wrong? I noticed you were thinking too much."

It's really not a problem even if i wait for months just to get that damn letter, but i always think the sooner the better. I shrugged it off. This might take a while. "U-Uh, it's about my sister, i'm just worried. That's all."

Then she gave me a reassuring smile. "It might be best if you stop worrying, your sister probably thinks that too."

"Mm, yeah..." Amber's such a nice person.

"Let's go to the garden, let's help Serena and the others to water the plants."

"Okay!" I tried to answer in a cheerful manner.

As we got to the garden, it was quite unexpected to see Victor there. He was having a cup tea while reading a book. He really looks peaceful there... and i just want to slit his throat.

"Ah~ the master really looks so majestic with those gold blonde hair and royal blue eyes." Amber said as he admire that bastard, somehow, i wanted to slap it on her face that the guy she was admiring was a murderer.

But oh well.

"Well then, shall we help the others now?" I asked her.

"Certainly."

Amber got to tasked to water the daisies with Serena and i was tasked to water the roses, which were actually quite near Victor. It kind of made me nervous, being so close to him but it seems that he doesn't mind me.

While i was watering the roses, one rose really caught my eyes. It was the brightest red among all roses here. It was so beautiful that i didn't noticed that i picked it, and my hands got splintered from its torns. "Ouch!" The rose fell on the ground, and when i was about to get it, someone else did.

"You've got a good eye here, miss. This was my favorite flower in the garden." It's him.

Victor Heignz.

He finally decided to approach me, huh?

"I-I... i'm sorry! I didn't mean to pick it up!" I said. To be honest, i really am nervous now that he's talking to me. But this must be the best chance i got to make him give me a letter.

So i tried my best to act well as a young maiden.

"It's fine..." he answered, then he suddenly lifted up my face and looked at me. "...how come i've never seen you before?"

I can feel my face turning red. "U-Uh... i'm actually new here, s-sir."

"Hmm?" I've got to admit, this man really have an appeal, even though he's already old as Jeremiah himself.

"Interesting, i think... i've seen you before." W-What?

"...."

"Well, not that it matters. Would please you tell me your name?" This is it! My chance!

"My name is... Olivia Faiths, sir."

"Olivia... what a beautiful name." Oh shut the hell up you old horny man! You probably said that to all the woman you meet.

"Thank you, sir."

"Would you accompany me, Olivia?" Whoa, is he literally asking me to kill him now? I gazed at Amber's direction, she might get worried if i disappear just now. "Don't worry about them, they can handle all this. Now come." Then he suddenly just dragged me all the was inside his mansion.

"S-Sir?"

He didn't bother responding and just kept on going. When we stopped, it was infront of a wall full of portraits. "You said your name was Olivia, right?" He asked.

"Yes, sir... but is there something wrong with my name?"

He uncovered the portrait near my side, showing a picture of a beautiful woman... wait... this woman. I met her before!

Then i remembered the woman from the cruise ship... that woman... it's her! She's the wife of this bastard!?

"You see, this was my wife... her name is also Olivia." So are you going to make me her replacement? "It's a really funny coincidence to meet someone that has the same name as her... now i wonder..." his voice really have a sad tone in it, he must've missed her so much.

This is a surprise for me. According to Hudson, this man is nothing but a heartless bastard.

"... i wonder if you're just the same as her?" And this man is really desparate to find a woman to replace his wife.

Even though i'd like to kill him right now, it's obviously not the time yet. I gave him a warm sympathetic smile. "I'm sorry, but i can never be someone else. We're all different, sir."

His eyes were ridiculously saddened by my words "Your right, hahaha..." he gave out a weak laugh. "...she probably hates me for doing all this ridiculous things."

And he suddenly fell on the ground, crying.

Even if he asked me to pity him, i think i can't do it. All i can see was red. I really want to kill him right now. "I loved her... i never imagined she would steal this heart which i thought was so impossible because i was always known for being heartless. But she made it possible... and now, everything i considered as my world has vanished."

Lending him my hand, he accepted it. He looked at me with his pathetic face which makes me want to puke. "I don't mean to be rude, master... but a heart that can be stolen can probably be stolen again."

His sadness fades bit by bit while he was trying to stand up. His eyes were only focused on me. "And a broken heart can probably be fixed as well, all you have to do is give it the time it needs." He surprised me again as he pulled me into his arms.

I smiled thinking that sweet poisoned words can really be used against devils as well.
