Chapter 20 - Ascendant - Chapter 20

I could see the stream of mana connecting Fulcrum with his golem, he was healing it. The dented chest of the golem was expanding back out to its original shape, with loud metallic creaks. He was healing it himself, the level and MP gain from the last dungeon must've done the trick, now I didn't have to divide my attention as we raided.

Fulcrum then saluted the golem and desummoned it. "I've decided on the giant one."

"Forge of giants?" I asked.

"That one."

"Alright then." I placed my hand on his shoulder and we were there.

--

The Forge of Giants was a large temple like place made from black stone that had a sort of smoke billowing out from the top. Inside were numerous giants.

The rewards were the same for this dungeon as they were for the last. Seems that the rewards go up depending on what rank the dungeon was.

"Let's go." And we both started our assault.

Giants fell left and right, many of them flung flames at us or molten metal but we were both immune to flame and so were unharmed by the assault, the giants weren't similarly immune to blunt force. As I used mana enhanced attacks to crush the skulls and rupture the internal organs of my foes, Fulcrum was freezing each giant and smashing them with his summons as they worked together as a well oiled team. Sorcerers that were as high a level as Fulcrum was, could order their summons telepathically, they could also have a good number of powerful summons out at a time, as well as an incredibly large number of weak summons. Fulcrum had over fifty summons that had one purpose out then, most were dedicated to healing the larger summons, some were for melee attacks, others were for using ice spells to freeze the enemy. It was a pleasure watching him work with his summons as giants fell to his army of magical beasts that were designed to take them down. I on the other hand swiftly dismantled my opponents, weaving about their strikes and reducing them to bloodied corpses or less than dust.

I managed to level a few skills up significantly during this period as after every enemy that I didn't reduce to dust perished, I resurrected them with my undead king skill, soon I had a sizable amount of zombie giants throwing fire at the real giants that I fought. Fulcrum was creeped out at first but when he saw that they obeyed my command, he started providing less shattered and frozen corpses for me to revive.

It didn't take long before my 38 zombie giants, Fulcrum's 71 summons, Fulcrum and I reached the forge. It was a massive, over-sized furnace with an anvil the size of a car next to it. I snapped my fingers, making the fire go out with a simple spell.

"Well, that wasn't particularly hard." I said, turning to face the doorway further into the forge where the mana was flowing.

"I can feel the ascension coming now." Fulcrum said, grinning excitedly. "One more level, here I come." He swept his hand to the side, creating a summoned horse, albeit a small one, and jumped on it, riding it into the next area.

'Suppose I'll have to follow him then.' I thought to myself before chasing after him.

Again we set to slaying giants, eventually making our way to the main room which had large steps leading up to a throne with numerous giant weapons behind it. Upon the throne sat a fire giant with shock white hair against its dark red skin. It wore a black apron and some black metal armour underneath it. It was like he was a war cook or something.

The war cook stood up, off of his throne. He held one of his hands out to the side and a large war-hammer flew off of the wall and into his hand.

"Cool." I muttered.

The boss then lifted a finger and pointed towards me. All of the daggers on the wall behind him, about fifteen of them, floated up into the air, pointing their tips towards me. Then they shot off, at breakneck speeds to me. I focused, time slowing greatly due to my incredible agility stat, didn't even need the mana to slow it almost to a crawl anymore. I weaved in between the daggers, touching each of them as they flew past, erasing them to nothingness. I then pulled something out of my storage, a hammer. A god's hammer to be exact, and threw it at the boss. After watching me dodge and destroy all of his daggers, the boss roared as the hammer flew towards him, his eyes lighting up like flames. Mjolnir collided with his jaw, sending him flying backwards. Fulcrum joined the fight after seeing this, sending swarms of summons at the boss and two large golems. I pulled mjolnir back to me, charging it with lightning as I rushed the boss who was struggling to keep the magical beasts off of him. I soared through the air, bringing down the hammer onto the boss's chest, a loud crack sounded as the boss roared in pain. I let go of the hammer, letting it pin the boss to the floor because only I could lift it.

"Watch out!" Fulcrum shouted from the back. I frantically looked around and saw what he was shouting about, all of the spears on the wall were vibrating, shaking in their holds. All of a sudden, they slipped out, flying for me, point first. Again I weaved in and out of them, the short notice earning me a few scrapes from them that healed instantly. I destroyed those spears as well. Turning back to the boss, he was lying on the floor, pinned and being torn apart and bludgeoned by numerous summons. I stood above him, floating in the air, I let a good portion of the mana I had in me, take effect, my body now surrounded by white energy that flaked off, muscles filled to the brim with power. I struck. The boss ceased breathing and the floor beneath his body shattered from the impact that left the room shaking.

And yet again the large screen appeared above us, we both accepted the material rewards. A hammer and a stone, I recognized it as a rune stone. Also a large box that was tied with a bow.

"Which do you want?" I asked, hoping he wouldn't want the rune stone.

"I'm not fussed, I guess I'll take the hammer and you can have the stone and the box." He said, obviously weighing up the fact that I got only one reward last time. "It honestly doesn't matter to me, I haven't even been able to get my other rewards, I've still got to accept the ascension."

"Well do it then man, good luck." I grinned.

"Thanks." Fulcrum walked off to another corner of the room and then started pressing invisible buttons in the air.

I walked over to the items, creating a portal below the loot box to put it in my storage and picking up the rune stone.

RUNE STONE - PSYCHOKINESIS

BY CRUSHING THE RUNE STONE YOU GAIN THE SKILL, PSYCHOKINESIS.

MANA STORED - 0/0

'Yes!' I shouted internally. I quickly crushed the stone and checked my skills.

PSYCHOKINESIS - LVL 1

YOU CAN EXERT YOUR WILL OVER OBJECTS.

MANA COST - 0

'Damn, it's not an easy level up then.' If it was going to be easy it would've had a mana cost because then I would've been able to over charge it and max out the skill like I had with storage and barrier. I stood there for the next few minutes, allocating my stats. Once I was happy, I turned to look at Fulcrum, giving his stats a read.

"Woah man, those numbers have gone up am I right?" I called across to Fulcrum.

"Yeah, I've got this new job skill as well." He turned around and made his way back to the hammer on the floor. I checked his skills.
