Chapter 8 - The Tower Of Sin - Chapter 8

The only stat that was below a hundred now was faith and I still had no valid reason to waste ability points on it so it stayed at its current 22. After putting the points in I did feel an abundance of health and the discomfort I had felt due to the wind was stripped away due to my constitution stat almost doubling. There was definitely an incline in the hp increase with constitution though because my initial one hundred hp was blown out of the water by my current hundred and twenty thousand.

After another couple of minutes I boosted the speed to about 60 miles per hour by a guess, checking my quest log to see if any dungeon quest had popped up.

'still haven't done the daily quest'

I held out my hand and created an ice cube which I then dropped.

DAILY QUEST COMPLETE

+5 ABILTY POINTS

+1 SKILL POINT

I upgraded my job again, leveling myself up and getting five more ability points, placing all of the ability points I had into agility.

Focusing a bit, the speed of my flight slowed drastically and I was able to observe my surroundings in great detail thanks to my intelligence score that now exceeded one hundred.

A few minutes later I arrived at the dungeon. A large tower, made of what looked to be obsidian. Around the tower was a maze that I could've easily bypassed were it not for the magical barrier preventing entry from above. I could've torn a hole in the barrier but I spotted several monsters inside the maze.

"Oh sweet experience." I grinned, floating down to the entrance.

A large stone archway that acted as the sole breach in the shield stood before me. I entered.

LEVEL...

The monsters in this dungeon all fitted a specific quota, they were all demons of some kind, some were giant gorillas which came at me with great fury, others were large bugs and some actually looked like a moving shadow of a demon.

By making my way through the maze I had leveled up a total of seven times, leveling up a few skills aswell, including almost doubling my individual skill level.

As I was resting from the previous battle with seven of those shadow demons and five strange fungi/growth looking demons, I checked my quest page.

DUNGEON QUEST - TOWER OF SIN

OBJECTIVE:

DEFEAT 200 DEMONS - 59/200

COLLECT LOOT FROM FOUR CHESTS - 1/4

SLAY THE DUNGEON BOSS, LORD MAOU - 0/1

REWARDS:

+60 ABILITY POINTS

+20 TO ALL STATS

+5 SKILL POINTS

DUNGEON SPECIFIC ARTIFACT

DARK LOOT BOX

Instead of the previous dungeon's goal of destroying the boss, this one was a more difficult fight and it required me to find and kill different things as well. The rewards were well worth the effort of the dungeon though, a total amount of ability points, if I used the skill points in my job, of 170. That was thirty four levels worth, almost my total level.

"ROUHHHHH!" A low roar rang out through the maze as a demon gorilla leapt at me, I created mana at my hand with my individual skill and then sent it out as a simple projectile, it caught the gorilla square in the forehead.

YOU HAVE SLAIN - BALGURA

The corpse of the gorilla landed next to me. I stood up, absorbing enough mana to spread the glowing to my skin. The balgura had a skill, I guessed, that attracted more demons to the area and so, as I suspected, five more balgura leapt over the maze walls followed by ten or so large blue bugs.

"Let's go." I pounced forwards, kneeing a balgura in the forehead, using my skill to erase it's skull, I could erase things through momentary contact now. As I fell to the floor I kicked it's corpse into one of the bugs, hearing a satisfying crunch as it was flattened against the wall from its comrade's body. As the other balguras launched themselves at me I sent out a wave of white hot flame in their direction, disintegrating them in its wake.

The bugs opened part of their exoskeletons to unleash their staggering noise skill, but it had no effect on me as I had already been caught by it earlier on in the hunt.

I melded with the shadow beneath me and reappeared in the furthermost bug's shadow, grabbing a hold of its abdomen and slamming it against the ground, green slime flying everywhere from the shattered exoskeleton. I launched myself at another bug, disintegrating it, shooting magic bullets at the bugs behind me, killing each with one shot and destroying the last bug in front of me.

SKILL LEVELED UP - GENESIS/DESOLATION LVL 38

SKILL LEVELED UP - HAND-TO-HAND MASTERY LVL 14

I crouched, breathing deeply. Letting some of the mana seep out as I didn't feel comfortable with the energy it gave me.

I eventually stood up straight and started to walk through the maze, turning the corner I spotted a black wooden box. This was a treasure chest, the previous one had contained a healing potion of large power so I had stored if away.

"I wonder what this one has?"

I opened the box, on the inside was a piece of cloth, I lifted it out and checked its window.

CLOAK OF DEMONIC SHADOW

THE WEARER OF THIS CLOAK CAN TRANSFORM INTO A LIVING SHADOW, ALLOWING THEM TO FIT THROUGH GAPS AS LONG AS THE GAP CAN LET LIGHT THROUGH. THE WEARER BECOMES FLATTENED TO THE SURFACE THEY ARE STANDING ON, THE CLOAK DOESN'T WORK WHEN NOT IN CONTACT WITH A SOLID SURFACE.

MANA STORED - 0/10,000

I put the cloak on, pumping mana into it up to its limit. The cloak gained the effect:

+10 AGI

Checking my stat screen to see the effect, I saw that it had.

"Sweet"

I then remembered that I hadn't checked the mana limit of the pendant around my neck, the line had only appeared after my mana weaving had hit level 25 anyway.

Turned out it had a limit of just over half a million mp. I then created an orb of that amount, sucking in the mana from my immediate area, making it clear of the ever-present mana for a second. I then pumped the mana into the pendant.

PENDANT OF THE UNDEAD KING

+300% MANA

+400% MANA REGAIN

GAIN 60% RESISTANCE TO PHYSICAL DAMAGE.

+30 INTELLIGENCE

+20 CONSTITUTION

GAIN THE SKILL - UNDEAD KING

MANA STORED - 550,000/550,000

"Woah, that's better."

SKILL GAINED - UNDEAD KING

"I wonder what that does."

UNDEAD KING - LVL 1

ABLE TO SENSE, CREATE AND COMMAND UNDEAD, THE POWER OF UNDEAD ABLE TO BE CONTROLLED RAISES WITH THE LEVEL OF THIS SKILL.

MANA COST - 15,000

"Awesome, I wonder..." I muttered to myself as I trudged back over to the corpses of the demons I had slain. Walking over to the most intact corpse, the balgura I had slain by a magic bullet to the head. I activated the undead king skill.

RESURRECTION UNAVAILABLE - TARGET TAINTED

"Huh, wasn't expecting that." I looked down that the corpse, shaking my head, it would be a lot easier if I didn't have to run around all the time. Instead, I would have to keep up with the killing solo.

"Best get on with it then."

Yarric Hoomber

The scout who was tailing the mysterious caster was running out of breath, the caster had leapt high into the air and then taken off flying faster than he had ever seen anyone fly.

Yarric had managed to catch up with the caster only to find himself right in front of a dungeon. One that was a maze with a giant, black tower in the centre. The caster had gone in without a care in the world but Yarric had instead chosen to stick outside and wait for the Kirin elite to get to him, he sent out his where abouts to the caster in the party and she had picket up his location and guided her party to him.

After about an hour the party came into view, the scout started to jump for joy and run over to them.

"Greetings, adventurers." Yarric said in-between breaths.

"Hello, scout." The leader of the party, a tall elvish man in a set of gleaming golden armour, said.

"The caster is in there." Yarric pointed towards the maze.

"How far in?" Asked the leader.

"I don't know, he's been in there for an hour now, if I had to guess, I'd say, in the tower?"

"Alright, thank you." The captain, then turning to his party, said "Come on, let's get moving."
