Chapter 39 - And It All Came Crashing Down

Poison Ivy:

"What are you doing," Nightwing screams, the entire building shaking and causing him to stumble away. Nightwing running right into a wall, he screams before falling to the ground. Once down, I kneel down to help Leonard.

"Leonard," I say, shaking him a little. "Leonard. Come on, wake up."

Groaning at first, he places his hand on his head.

"Ahh, what the hell happened?"

"Nightwing sucker punch you," I reply.

"That son of a bitch," Leonard says, getting up while still groaning. "Is my head still shaking?"

"No, that's the building."

"The building? Oh god, what the hell did you do?"

Harleen:

"She what," I scream, trying to stay on my feet as the building tilts to the side.

"Poison Ivy is bringing down the building," Higgin screams through our suits. "She is bringing it down! Get out of there before you're buried alive!"

"What was she thinking," Selina yells, also trying to stay on her feet. About to fall over, one of her robot cats whips its tail around her wrist and pulls her back up. "Thanks."

The robot cat meows, it then leaps around before running down a hallway.

"Wait," Higgins says, "The information, the data. It's not complete."

"Higgin," I say, watching as an entire section of ceiling crumbles off and lands right in front of Selina and me. "Sorry, but I think us not getting, and by the way, these are your words, 'buried alive' is a little more important than the information. How much is downloaded?"

"Only about 20% but you're right. All of you need to get out of Wayne Tower now. You. Catwoman. Captain Cold. Poison Ivy. Even Cyborg and Nightwing. Just forget everything and get out."

"Way ahead of you," I yell, grabbing Cyborg's feet and dragging him along. "Hey Selina, a little help here. Maybe one of your robot cats can join in."

Captain Cold:

"You crazy bitch," I say, falling and hitting a wall. "Ouch. Son of a bitch."

"Yeah fuck you too," Poison Ivy replies, catching herself before she can hit a wall. She pushes herself off it and gets back to her feet. Meanwhile, I have to pop my shoulder back into its place before I can push myself back onto my feet.

The two of us running, we stop when we hear Higgin's voice.

"Wait," he starts, "What about Nightwing? If you leave him, he'll die."

"So what," I ask. "One less regime for us to deal with."

"You can't leave him. As much as it's going to suck, you just can't leave Nightwing."

"Why not," Ivy asks.

"Because it's the one thing that separates us from Superman and his regime. We don't kill. We don't take lives. We don't leave anyone for dead. Friend, foe, or just some random person. We don't leave anyone for dead."

"Fuck," I say, looking at the jackass's unconscious body. "You know, for the record, I hate you now."

"That's okay. The first time I met the man, he said he hated me and then threw a rock at me. Don't ask why."

"Trust me," I say, grabbing and tossing Nightwing's arm over me. "I wasn't. I'm a little too busy trying to make sure parts of the fucking ceiling don't fall on us."

Poison Ivy joins in, she tosses Nightwing's other arm over her and the two of us carry him through the empty hallway. Only, the hallway wasn't empty.

"Beta," Higgin yells, a squad of betas turning the corner and stopping us. Even before we can toss Nightwing to the ground, the betas charge and tackle Ivy and me to the ground.

"What," Poison Ivy says, struggling to get out from under. "What's going on? Why are these things still attacking us?"

"They're ordered to guard and then to attack in case of intruders. I'm guessing you're all still considered intruders."

"We're more than intruders," I say, freezing a beta's head and stomping on it. "Bring it on you hunks of junk."

I squeeze the trigger and swipe my arm, temporarily freezing solid blocks of ice onto the betas. While they try to break the ice, I charge forward, running right into one. The two of us hitting a wall, I grab the beta's head and slam it over and over into the wall until its eyes turn off and wires pop open.

"One down, a few more to go."

One beta breaks free, it raises its hand but as it did, I kick out one of its legs. The beta falling, I freeze its head and stomp on it like before. The piece of its destroyed head going in a bunch of different directions, I look up in time to see one beta shoves me. The damn thing shoving me right through a wall follows after me.

Breaking a few more pieces of wall as it climbs on through, it raises both arms and tries to reach for me. However, I raise my foot and keep it back.

"You're overheating," I say, also raising my cold gun. "I hope this helps."

Selina:

"What are the chances we're going to regret this," Harleen asks, her head peeking over the window's ledge. "I mean, last I checked, neither of us can fly. I don't have a lantern ring and you're not a kryptonian. Also, neither of us has jetpacks. Unless."

Harleen pats herself, she looks at me.

"What," I ask, looking at myself. "What?"

"Do you think these suits have jetpacks in them? I mean, your suit has robot cats and my suit can make weapons. A jetpack wouldn't be too far-fetched, would it?"

"Considering the three of us are on the 71st floor, and the elevator just fell straight down before bursting into flames, I hope not too much. The question is, how do we activate them? The guy isn't here to tell us, and I don't see any instructions."

Harleen turns over her arm and stares at the back of it.

"Do you see any instructions on my back," Harleen asks, turning around.

A piece of the ceiling falling down in between us, I look at her back.

"No, no instructions."

"Son of a"

Another piece of the ceiling falling down and almost crushing us cuts Harleen off before she can finish.

"Higgin," I say, "Higgin. Are you there?"

"No, thank god. Why are you still there?"

"The elevator is destroyed and we're still on the 71st floor. Please, oh please, tell me you know how to use the suits. Or at least what they can do."

"I'm sorry. I have no idea what they can and can't do. All I know is that each of them was design specifically for the intended user."

"Swell."

"Cyborg," Harleen screams, grabbing and turning me around. Cyborg's unconscious body is slipping through a crack in the floor. Almost falling through the crack, I jump and grab his hand. Harleen jumping in grabs his other hand and the two of us begin to pull. However, as we pull, the crack in the floor widens and tilts. Now, all three of us are slipping.

"Oh son of a" Harleen tries to says but before she can finish, something cuts her off again.

Steel whips wrap around the three of us and pull us up, back onto a level part of the floor. I look to see my three robot cats from before, the cats meowing and retracting their tails. As I watch them retract their tails, a lightbulb slowly begins to turn on.

"Harleen, how much do you think Cyborg weight?"
