After speaking with the various heads for about half an hour, the group was finally allowed a moment of peace. But their peace was soon interrupted although none were bothered about the new interruption.
Nearly 20 figures walked inside the room where the group was resting a preparing to walk on stage. Most of the demons who entered were students from later years who were high Rankers.
The highest Rankers worked as a type of student council and could negotiate with school administration for certain benefits for the students or to discuss plans for the other students.
Besides the Rankers, there were 4 other individuals. These were the headmistress and 3 vice-headmasters. Each of them was an SS rank demon and former Demon Lord or Emperor/Empress.
The headmistress was called Isis. She was an Archdevil from 5 generations before the current one. She was the Demon Lord of Sloth in her time and had killed a pack of Wyverns with similar levels to her all by herself in her 20s.
She had reached the peak level before she was even 300 years old which is faster than most who take about 500 years. She reigned proudly as the Demon Lord of Sloth for 300 years before retiring early to become the headmistress of Hel Academy.
These were the legends that Isis had written about her. Of all the Demon Lords that were currently alive, she was ranked in the top 5 of the most dangerous.
The vice-headmasters and headmistress were also former Demon Lords but their battle prowess was considered low-tier among all the other Demon Lords, though their other abilities and skills made them suitable for teaching positions.
One of the vice-headmasters was a Blue Oni called Tenjin. He only had a Tier 6 class so his combat strength was not the highest but the demon was proud of his alchemy skill and known as one of the top 3 alchemists in the entire world.
The other vice-headmaster was an Elder Vampire called Tir. He had a Tier 6 class as well but was a powerful beast tamer. He had 5 A rank and 1 S rank creature under his command and had tamed thousands of other creatures for the empire or demons who had hired him.
The only female of the vice-heads was the vice-headmistress named Minerva. She was a True Witch similar to Persephone. Her direct combat abilities were considered the bottom 5 of all living Demon Lords but no one dared to engage her in combat.
She was a master of inscriptions and forging. Her weapons were some of the deadliest while her armors could save countless lives. She also created never before seen items such as semi-autonomous golems and self-driving carriages.
Each of the headmasters/mistresses was a legendary figure within Hel at the end of the day. So standing in front of them, even the 9 felt some pressure due to their skills and knowledge.
"Hello"
Isis started. The she-devil gave everyone a beautiful and warm smile as she greeted them.
"I just wanted to meet our latest batch of legendary students while also introducing them to the other headmasters."
Each of the headmasters/mistresses gave a small greeting while appraising the group. It was a tradition for each of the heads to take one of the SS ranks as an apprentice during their time in the school as long as they met their standards.
As the ones known for their skill and knowledge in important and difficult fields, each of the headmasters/mistresses had high standards and might not even take on the future Demon Lords as disciples if their talent in the field was not high enough.
Take Minerva for example. Even though she was nearly 3000 years old, she had only taken on a single disciple in all those years but dropped them after a few months. She had the highest standards of all the headmistresses/masters.
The group gave their greetings while also sizing up the heads just like they were being sized up. Even if they were slightly in awe, they still had their proud attitudes.
Mordred was especially looking at Minerva. If rumors were true, she had all the skills that he felt he was lacking and would be the perfect teacher for him.
'I'll ask after I spend some more time practicing by myself'
Mordred thought to himself. It was not that he was too proud to ask but he wanted a proper grasp of his own skills before he asked for advice from her.
After a small discussion with the headmasters/mistresses, the group of older demons left, leaving only the 13 Rankers and the 9.
Subconsciously not liking the feeling of being outnumbered, Mordred summoned out Nyx to make the numbers closer to being even. Now it was 13 against 10.
No one spoke for a while but instead just eyed the other side to try and gauge their strength. The 9 had higher ranks while the Rankers had higher levels, larger numbers, and more experience.
It was as if there was a silent confrontation between both groups but that was understandable. Each time the generation of Demon Lords arrived at the academy, they would take over the top positions of Rankers by the end of their second year at the latest.
This would naturally make the Rankers feel uneasy about the 9 sitting before especially after hearing about the legendary tales of each of them. 1 who was skilled in all 7 magics with 1 being at the divine level, 1 high-level system user, each of the dragons with 4 elements, and all of them known for their high combat power even though they had been awakened for less than a year and a half.
One of the Rankers tried to put an olive branch though.
"Marcus. Number 9 of the Rankers. Nice to meet you."
Bast flashed a smile before introducing herself as well...
"Bast. I think you mean future Number 18 by the end of this year."
... and also burning the olive branch that was being extended.
Hearing the naked provocation, the other Rankers who thought they may have been going overboard with being so tough on the new students now reevaluated their thoughts.
'Arrogant little shits!' was the common thought shared among Rankers now
The groups continued to have their stare-off for a few more minutes until they were called out of the room to officially begin the orientation.
