She looked exhausted and I could tell she was on edge. Feeling protective, I moved closer to this unknown woman. Even though we were returning without food, we weren't returning empty handed.
Not many things could surprise my old man but I'm sure this will. I couldn't wait to see his reaction, just thinking about it brought a grin to my face.
Remembering a little belatedly my pack members that were with us, I took a sideways glance at them. They were confused by the situation but didn't dare to question their leader.
"Taking this woman back takes priority. She is mine and no harm shall come to her. Understand?"
"Yes sir!"
The pack telepathy communication was very handy, especially in situations such as these. She was obviously not a werewolf, judging by her reaction to them shifting. Hell, she hadn't even known about their existence. Telling her at this time that she was his mate and wouldn't be leaving his side would definitely not go well.
Knowing that those outside the forest consider it cursed he suddenly wondered why she had been in the forest. Not only was she deeper than many dare to go but she was also alone. Furrowing his brows in contemplation to her current situation he took a sidewise glance at her. Seems she wasn't a simple human.
She could feel his eyes on her. So many things had happened today that I can't understand. I don't know what to expect, where to go, or who to trust. The Ares gave her a feeling of comfort and at this point she latched onto it. Hungry and exhausted she needed something to steady her.
In the distance she noticed that there seemed to be a town. This must be his home. Which means food and possibly a bed.
"I am going to take you to my place to rest but I will need to visit with the alpha once you're settled. No one will bother you if you stay inside. You can sleep on my bed and I shouldn't be too long."
Rest sounded amazing. Hearing that there was even a bed! It was going to be heaven in comparison to the cold ground she had planned on sleeping on previously.
She quickly fell asleep once she laid down. Seeing her sleeping in his bed gave him a feeling like no other. Wanting nothing more than to stay by her side, he had to force himself to leave. He needed to speak with his father.
Heading to the Alpha's tent, where pack members could discuss problems and needs, he quickly found his father. Luckily with no one around at this time he walked towards him.
"I hear you returned with a woman instead of food for the pack. Care to explain?"
"Shortly after we started hunting I caught her scent. She was sleeping next to the river where deer tend to gather. She's my mate and there's something strange about her. I am unsure what happened but I could feel almost an electric like current around her and suddenly the others were not only knocked back but also out for a few minutes."
His father came to a complete halt. Even with his declining health he was still quick on his feet and was suddenly right in front of me.
"Are you sure about this, boy?"
"Without a doubt, she is my mate."
"Not that. The energy. Are you absolutely certain of that?"
"Er, yes, but why are you so focused on that? I just announced to you that I found my mate. Not only that but she had no prior knowledge of our existence yet was alone in the woods. Shouldn't that be more surprising and concerning to you?"
"Could it be possible?"
