Man never thought that one day the simple foods become a big dream. Athor took a deep breath, cracked his joint. During leaning to the wall suddenly something attacked his mind so he took a pencil and paper out of his bag, placed it on a book, and started calculating.
He had sold a total of twenty pears and thought "oh I have a long way to my goal yet" Then he lifted his head to lean to the wall, when his thoughts didn't leave him alone, he put the paper on his knees and started drawing.
It had been a long time since he had only one dream; a big engraved gate with marble columns and mid_fly eagles, a woody door made by a Beech tree which was designed with an old Plane tree. A shiny stone on the top of the door was shining like a star anytime he knocked on the door. A dazzling light came out of it then he saw himself in weird white combat clothing which was designed so stunning and there was another person next to him who was similar to him. Suddenly, he woke up while his forehead was wet with sweat.
It's been a year since the first dream that rubbed all his nights; he wanted that dream to become true as soon as possible. He wanted to step forward to a new world.
The time he ran away from his godfather's house, his dreams got started. Exactly from the day that he had shown venture to life, a strange place was calling upon him, but he didn't know where was that place. The memories rose in his head.
Four years ago he got adopted as a son by Mrs. Sollares and Mr. Dontain Ferssi. They already had a daughter who was called Crystal. She was two years older than thirteen years old Athor. Their family always wished to have a son, not for loving him, but for making him a slave for nobles and making more money.
Just some superstitious people who believed Athor was so malevolent and must be brought back to the orphanage.
They tried to take him back there, but their daughter stopped them from doing that embarrassing threat because he was a good boy. After his arrival, they were nice to him for only two weeks.
After a year of accepting Athor, they found out about something strange. Crystal got infected by a deathly hematologic disease and there was no cure for her. When they didn't get any results from the physicians. They met and asked those sly magicians for help. As it was clear they didn't help them and even made it worse with those freaky potions. Accelerated the disease and turned off the last lights of hope. Since that time their behavior got even more horrible than before. they treated him exactly like a mine slave.
He used to say "they didn't want a son, they intended to take an innocent teenage boy to abuse him by labor just to make more money"
They didn't let Crystal speak to Athor while they really loved each other like real brother and sister; she was the only one who behaved well and always respected him. In their last conversation -before Crystal's death- she gave him only one advice:
"Athor please free yourself from them, the only thing that I always expected them as my parents were to love me unconditionally and accept who I am, the real me, but it never happened and my time is over now."
The sad memories were running over her head, and like worms were eating his brain.
She was a stunning brunette girl with big fairy honey eye color, but on her last days, her hair was completely white. She has got blood concentration in her vessels which became so thick and recognizable under her white thin skin. Her eyes got red and that poor girl had to handle so much pain. Her parents did not take care of her as she deserved and behaved her just like a boy and expected her to sell vegetables to nobles till late at night. Those opportunist rich pigs who loved to abuse poor beautiful young girls out there had never missed that chance. Fearlessly to offend those defenseless girls. She was a very soft girl and all of those bad experiences were so heavy for her tender soul that she couldn't be the same person as she was before that. She was satisfied with all the blessings, but she deserved more peace in her life. After all, going through death was a bridge to freedom and she hugged it tightly. Athor brushed away the tears on his cheek. He reminded the last day.
In the evening and funeral, Athor sat in the cold vapid gravestone when an army of black crows' seizure the sky and made loud noises like the song of death. He had never liked them, but there could have seen many more of them these days. It seems they could smell the death and fresh flesh of the creatures. He had strange feelings that never had before. Crystal's death was so hard on him. He felt a part of his soul got separated that he wanted it back.
After those black days, Ferssi's behavior got even worse with everyone around.
He remembered the last day of being in that wraiths house. He walked down the stairs to drink some water, but accidentally the glass fell and got broken. Mrs. Ferssi freaked out quickly, jumped out of the kitchen and when she got into the living room, saw the broken glass on the ground then cried very loudly "Athoooorrr… you! Dropped the glass, you careless gawky boy, be brave and answer back for your mistake, well you don't want to show up, OK let's make it clear with my husband tonight".
That made no sense to him, he was standing exactly next to the old brown sofa. He was so frightened, but she didn't see or hear him. He had said "I'm right here, I didn't run away, I'm sorry… I don't know what happened."
Before that he knew his godmother will punish him strictly so at that moment he kept saying to himself "I wish I disappear" and that wish became reality so fast.
Mr. Ferssi was a thin dark-haired man with burned skin, small eyes, and short height, but his wife was exactly the opposite version of him. A fat woman with white skin as milk. Her eyes blue, round, and big. She was taller than her husband.
He was the receipt merchandise agent at the central post office. Every morning he was going out of home, at 7 a.m. and coming back at 5 p.m.
That destiny night the glass broke and when he came back Mrs. Ferssi took her husband into the kitchen and told him about the glass just before dinner. He could hear them. They were speaking loud on purpose when and said "We must never have chosen that child with weird ears, at the first sight it was obvious that he is malevolent". Athor was doing his homework.
The boy had to go to school in the morning and afterward he used to work on a farm for the rest of the day, which was 2 kilometers far from his school.
Mr. Ferssi got so angry about that simple mistake because it caused him to spend a coin. He sneaked out of the kitchen quietly and attacked him. Grabbed his collar and pulled him back to the yard while shouting.
"I'm working so hard to run this life with a low income then you stupid boy going around ruining my life, the school expenses are high, all of these are out of my reason but you know that we just lost our loving child and still carrying sorrow then you, crazy boy, dare to play with us".
They were absurd words that the madding man spouted out from his mouth. Anytime he came to his house decided to leave his heart and small brain outdoor. He took Athor to the cellar. Pushed him inside to the darkness. Locked the door and said, "till you didn't decide to stop besieging us, you will be there. Remember that you will die without us. There is no place for you out here. Staying alive is so hard".
He hated that Ferssi always guilt-tripped him. If they were doing even the slightest favor toward him, then he could give them a right to act that way. But he had no right to disrespect or abuse him. His expenses were on himself and that bountiful farmer who worked with used to give him some potatoes and wheat, but those two took all of the harvests and had sold them in the bazaar.
After he was done with spoiling him enough. He left while his feet made sounds like an earthquake. It was like he also wanted to hurt the ground and take revenge from it because of all his misery!
They were living in a two-story building. Their tenant used to live on the first floor and never wanted to get into a struggle with those mad people, also tried to give their rent on time. Almost all the neighbors knew them well and were trying to avoid any kind of discussion with them.
