On an island in the forgotten seas, there lay a mansion. In truth it had been a glorified prison for the strongest mages known to man. They were imprisoned after the ancient war that had taken place 500 years ago. But not long ago they had escaped and left the place in ruins.
The guards that had been stationed there had been called back but many had mysteriously died at sea. And all that was left behind was a ruin on an island in a stormy sea.
However, one day the island while being washed over by countless waves began to tremble. Fissures quickly spread all over the island until it looked like it was about to shatter into a million pieces.
And so it did. In a burst of energy rocks, dirt, concrete, and metal were flung into the sky. A beast with pale white-gold fur rose from the vestiges of the destroyed island. Nine fluffy tails waved in the stormy wind as the storm withdrew and a single ray of sunlight fell onto the beast's face.
A guttural roar escaped the fox beast's mouth and caused tremors throughout the water around it.
The beast scanned its surroundings but discovered nothing of particular interest. The forgotten seas were just the same as before. A cynical expression crossed the beast's face but it shook its head to lose it.
Rainbow light enveloped the beast's massive form as it began to shrink and morph into a more humanoid shape.
Now, an androgenous humanoid was floating above the sea. All that reminded of the beast from before were a pair of ears on the figure's head and nine tails waving behind it.
"It has been a long time since I have gone to sleep. But alas, peace can't continue on forever. If there is something you want, you must attempt to cease it through your own means and powers."
Suddenly the figure inhaled deeply, opened its mouth, and stuck out its tongue as if tasting the air. A deep scowl took over the immaculate face.
"What is this smell? It reminds me of the light alliance's people but it isn't as deep as their scent. Whatever it is it can't be good."
The figure's attention returned to the shattered remains of the island. The rubble was slowly sinking into the deep sea and all that was left of the island was a base of rock under the water.
"Evidently they left in conflict. The humans had one job and they blew it. With those old monsters out and about they have either left or decided to conquer this place. Either way, blood will flow and realms will be torn asunder. All I can do now is try to minimize the damages and ensure the continuation of our legacy."
The figure took off at a remarkable speed heading for the closest port. However, halfway there it stopped in its tracks.
"I have to look for the heirs and offsprings of the others. If they had sired any descendants themselves they must have been careful to hide them. Finding them will already be difficult. Not to mention finding the heirs born by the world. They could be in any of the mundane lower realms. Why did they have to give this task to me?!!!"
The figure seemed to fret over a great many dilemmas as it kept hovering in midair while talking to itself. If this weren't the high seas there would surely be a host of mages coming to investigate already.
"What to do... I can't go into the lower realms yet but I really don't want to meet with those idiotic humans. And there is also the scent I picked up. If by some unlucky chance that is a high-ranking member of the light alliance I cannot leave the surface world defenseless."
The figure was unsure of what to do. Its thoughts kept tussling with themselves and the procrastination grew longer. Only when a barely perceptible ripple of magic passed by did the figure's inner conflict come to a sudden halt.
"That magic signature. This scent! It really is someone from the light alliance. And to be able to cause ripples that reach me without me being able to tell where exactly they came from. Please don't let it be a deity-level combatant.
"Sigh. Who am I even kidding, no one besides a deity could get into this world with the barrier still up. Help or no help I am not sure if I can take down the intruder..."
The figure had fallen into contemplation once more. Another ripple, stronger than before, ripped the figure from its thoughts.
"No, I cannot keep hesitating. Even if I cannot take him down I must try anyway. We've fallen to the point where we don't have the luxuries to pick out battles anymore."
The figure gathered its resolve and roared to the skies. The effect of such a display wasn't as grand as when it was done in its beastly form but the purpose of driving out all hesitation was the same.
As the roar faded a multitude of ripples passed through the area. Whatever was causing those ripples it had just become more active.
With renewed determination and even greater speed than before the figure flew towards the human lands. As it approached the coast another series of ripples passed by.
"There is no doubt. Since I'm this close I can finally determine with certainty that the intruder is a deity. And judging from those ripples he's here to make trouble. Big trouble!"
The figure wanted to speed up again but held off. Arriving faster but in a state of total exhaustion would only complicate the situation. And there was no room for further complications.
At last, the area where the ripples originated from was close enough for the figure to get an overview. A heavy pressure assaulted the figure's body as it approached the flying seraph in the sky and heard the word he spoke.
"Hear me mortals I have come to bring you salvation!"
The figure's frown deepened
