Chapter 7
Right at the buttcrack of dawn, I bolted up in my bed, WAIT A DAMN MINUTE. I just realized, the reason why Rowan looked so familiar was because of Aric. They looked so fricken similar. How could I have not realized that?
Oh, wait, probably because I hate Aric's face and am not able to look at it for more than a few minutes without wanting to puke. But for some unknown reason, I didn't feel that way looking at Rowan's face. Probably because he has a slightly, just slightly different face.
Pulling the blanket over my face, I snuggled deeper into bed and went back to sleep. No use thinking about this right now, my brain can't function this early in the morning. Maybe in an hour or two, I'll be able to think clearly without sleep clouding my thoughts.
Two and a half hours later, I jolted awake and grabbed my alarm clock, staring at the time, oh no no no no, I'm going to be late!
Stumbling out of bed, I hurriedly changed my clothes and grabbed my backpack. Stuffing my phone into one of my pockets, I shoved my feet into my shoes and scrambled out the door and down the stairs.
Whoops, I stepped on my shoelace, swiveling around, my arms pinwheeling, just as I was about to fall backward, I grabbed onto the stairwell railing. I was suddenly faced to face with Sue. Well, my head was upside down so I was looking at her chin. "Um, hey there, Sue."
Her eyes widened, "H-hi. Are you okay?" She gently put her hands on my shoulders and pushed me up.
"Thanks, Sue," I grinned at her. Then I snapped back to reality, "Oh crap. I'M GOING TO BE LATE!" Scampering down the stairs, "Got to go, see ya, Sue! Have a nice day!" I yelled before bursting out the door and running to my class.
Slamming into the door, I stumbled in, gasping for air, my face bright red, "I-I'm here."
Coach sighed, "Hurry up and get changed, young lady. We don't have all day and after you changed, I expect you to come in front of the class and apologize for making us wait."
"Yes, sir." Scuttling to the locker rooms, I stripped off my clothes as fast as I could, which resulted in my arm somehow getting stuck in the same hole as my head was in. After two minutes of hopelessly hopping around, trying to change my clothes, I finally succeeded and hurried to the gym.
Coach pointed next to him, "Apologies, please."
Bowing my head, "I am very sorry for being late and wasting your time. Please forgive me."
Walking into my place in the lines, we started our warm-ups. Ugh, my muscles, how weak do I need to be for warm-ups to burn this much?
After an hour of pain and torture, I finally got to rest my body. I said body, never said anything about my brain, you guessed it, it's time for calculus, yippee (goes to cry in a corner).
Anyway, after calculus, I thought about whether or not I should ask Aric about Rowan. I mean, there could be a chance they are not related at all and just strangely look oh so very similar.
In the end, I decided against it. Imagine if I was wrong, Aric would probably bully me into oblivion. Besides, it's not like I actually care about this, it wouldn't matter to me if I never met Rowan again.
Two periods later, it was time for lunch. As I was walking to the cafeteria, I swung my backpack around my shoulders to check if I had placed my homework in the right folder. A few seconds later, I slammed into someone.
"Where did you come from?" He asked, as my face was still squished against his chest, ow, my nose. Why does it always get hit whenever I accidentally walk into someone?
"My mother's womb," I muttered.
Pulling my face away from his chest, I rubbed my nose, and then looked up at him ...oh crap, Aric.
"Oh great, it's you." I rolled my eyes in annoyance, "What, are you going to bully me or something?" Smirking at him, I mused, "Hmm, that didn't seem to work out for very well you last time."
He clenched his jaw, glaring at me, eyes full of hatred, "Shut up."
Skipping around him, I asked, "What's your problem with me anyway? I don't believe I ever did anything to you did I?" I cocked my head to the side. Maybe there actually was a reason for his hatred for me.
Aric shook his head, muttering to himself, "You don't even know, do you?" He laughed to himself.
Nope, nevermind, he was just a weirdo.
I took this chance to ask him, "Do you have a brother by any chance?"
He stared at me, "Why would I tell you?"
Meh, okay, so maybe I was wrong and Rowan just looked like Aric by coincidence? Okay, see you later then, bye." As I was about to walk away, he grabbed my arm.
Aric grunted, "Fine, I'll tell you."
He said that as if I had begged him to tell me, geez.
Crossing my arms, I asked, "So do you?"
"Why do you want to know though?"
"Just answer the question."
He glared at me, "Yeah, I have a brother, he goes to a different school. Why are you asking?"
I shrugged, "Walked into someone yesterday and he looked oddly similar to you."
Aric stared at me, "Was his name by any chance Rowan?"
"Yep."
"Then that would probably be my brother."
....Silence.
Well, this just got awkward. I don't think Aric and Alice have ever had a normal conversation before.
"Okay, well, good to know. I got to go, my sister is waiting for me," I hiked my backpack upwards and started walking away.
Just as I took my first step away, he grabbed onto the handle thing on my backpack, and yanked me towards him, "Yeek!" I squeaked out.
"Wait a minute, I need to tell you something," our faces were so close, I could feel his breath on my face.
