"First question, did you order Sam to kill that man on my behalf?"
"Yes."
"Good. If you keep up like this you might get a reward."
Sam shivered at the thought of the reward. It definitely wasn't candy.
"Did you travel to Florida the day before the killing." Esmeralda asked.
Lisa froze. She knew where the question was heading and didn't want to answer. Looking at the menacing gaze she swallowed what ever was left in her throat and said "Yes."
Sam was shocked. They had talk the day before the killing and she told him she was in New Jersey to visit her family.
"Since you've confirmed my suspicion I'll go straight to the point. Who ordered you to spy on me?"
Sam frowned at his boss' question and averted his gaze to Lisa who had become awfully pale.
Lisa looked at the ground and kept her mouth shut. She couldn't say anything and was not willing to.
" I see you've got some balls." Esmeralda faced the men who had held Lisa and said "Take her back and make sure they deal with her until she confesses. Use whatever means but most importantly make sure she's alive or else you can kiss your life bye bye."
The men nodded and proceeded to grab Lisa.
"No! You can't do this to me! Boss don't do this!! I'm sorry!!" Lisa yelled.
"Save it for Lord." Esmeralda waved off and saw the car disappear into a distance. Focusing her gaze on Sam she smirked.
"Now, what am I going to do to you?"
Sam quickly bent down and hugged one of her leg. "Please boss, forgive me. I'm not in the wrong!" He cried out and wrapped his arms around her leg.
"I have no intentions of doing anything to you since you are innocent. Just go home to your family for a few days." Esmeralda released her leg after much effort and entered the black escalade.
"Thank you boss." Sam bowed deeply and smiled despite the tears on his face.
"Aren't you going home or do you plan on walking?" Esmeralda asked noticing that he was still standing on the road.
"Oh." He quickly rounded the car and hopped in. This was the first time the boss was giving him a ride in her car. He felt so fortunate. Sitting on the expensive leather made him stiff.
"Don't get too comfortable. I don't want your darling wife to become widowed because I left you in the middle of a quiet road with no means of transportation." Esmeralda scrolled through her tablet and answered her pending emails.
Sam sighed. As expected she wasn't doing it out of the goodness of her heart. But then again, he was happy. He also realized that she had said a lot today. Was it because of Lisa's situation or was she changing? Either ways it was still progressive.
An hour later they arrived at a two story house suitable for a family. Not too big not too small.
"Get out."
Sam sighed and opened the door before jumping down. It wasn't even a second when he closed the door that the car drove away. He cursed at the driver before walking into his house. He thanked God for helping him escape death. If not for the truth he would have been a living corpse by now.
Esmeralda arrived home but stopped at the gate. She got down and told the driver to head back with the car. She took different cars depending on her schedule.
The guard saw her standing at the gate and opened it to let her through. She strolled down to the house with ease and stood by the door. She sighed and opened it at the same time dodging the incoming high heel.
"Where are you coming from?"
Anastasia asked. She was seated calmly and didn't look like she threw a murderous weapon at her sister not long ago.
"Good evening to you too." Esmeralda was expecting this welcome.
"Lulu, if you want me to die early just say it so you can free me from worrying about your late movements." Anastasia rubbed her temples with closed eyes. This morning she had seen a strand of grey hair on her head and freaked out almost demolishing the whole building.
"You won't die. Trust me, it's not your time yet." Esmeralda patted her shoulder and smiled. She stared at her and noticed some changes in her sister.
Anastasia was glowing and looked like she had gained weight since the last time they saw each other.
"Shut up. Go to your room and sleep. I don't want to have to deal with cranky children in the morning." Anastasia shooed her away.
"Alright mom. Good night." Esmeralda kissed her sister's cheek and went upstairs to her room and retired for the night.
