COMPLICATED
Jade opened her eyes groggily as the bright lights assaulted her eyes. She slowly sat up as she winced at the sudden surge of pain she felt from her lower region.
Her eyes glistened with tears when she remembered everything that happened last night and the pain she was feeling at the moment. She hated herself so much, not for what she had done, but for enjoying every piece of that god-forsaken act.
She covered her face with both her palms as she felt disgusted by herself.
How could she have betrayed her emotions this way? Everything about last night was so wrong, but somewhere in her heart, they felt so right. The feelings she felt the previous night felt surreal... It was the best feeling she's ever had. But she hated herself for thinking it felt good.
She turned to the side of the bed to find it empty, and a teardrop rolled down her cheeks. She felt so dirty. She couldn't place her feelings at that moment; she only wanted to wash all these away. She felt like tearing each layer of her skin out.
"You should go wash up first... I got you a change of clothes," Jake said, pointing at a beautiful sundress on the sofa. She was startled when she heard that familiar voice; she turned to her side to see Jake sitting on the couch, staring at her. She couldn't look away as they stared back at each other silently, with various thoughts running through their minds.
Her gaze stirred up a sea of emotions in his heart that he never knew he could feel. There was a sense of serenity about her. He felt emotions which he had never explored.
"Thanks... but I can't accept anything else", Jade said, breaking the awkward silence between them as she wrapped herself with the quilt and exited the bed. She picked up her clothes before heading to the bathroom. She needed to leave this god-forsaken place. She needed to rid herself of these complex feelings she was having.
Jake stared at her back as she made her way into the bathroom. He felt a pang of guilt hit him in his chest when he saw those tears slip down her cheeks. His hands itched to catch those tears even before they could fall. He saw nothing but pain reflecting in those blue eyes. She meant nothing to him, but her tears shook him.
Jade stood before the huge mirror that hung in the bathroom. She couldn't hold her tears from falling freely as she scrunched down on the bathroom floor, with her head resting on her knees.
Her emotions were complicated at the moment. How could she have moaned at the touch of another man other than Cale?! How did she let herself respond to his every move and touch on her? Why did her heart feel torn?!
Everything that happened last night felt wrongfully right. How could something so wrong also feel so right? She despised herself forever, thinking it felt good.
She pulled herself together as she stood up and looked at the mirror. Her eyes fell on her lips as a memory of Jake's kiss flashed through her mind, making her bite her lips in anger and embarrassment.
She splashed some water on her face before fixing herself up. She took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom.
Jake, still sitting in the same spot, raised his head when he heard her walk out of the bathroom. She looked a bit more composed, but her eyes were still as sad as they looked when she walked into the bathroom minutes ago. He could tell she had cried because her eyes looked stark red.
Somehow, his heart wanted to apologise and console her. He didn't know why he had waited for her to wake up when he had woken up hours ago. He had wanted to leave, but he ordered a dress for her.
He had several one-night stands with ladies. But this... this just felt different... too different.
Jade cleared her throat awkwardly before saying, "I'm sorry about last night." She apologised due to a lack of what to say. "I hope our paths end here", she added with a bow before picking up her purse as she turned and left without giving Jake a second look.
Jake stared in her direction for quite some time as he sat still. Something in him wanted to call her back, but he couldn't move. He could still smell her presence, that soft and soothing smell that sprung a myriad of emotions in him.
Maybe this was fate. Perhaps he was meant to have just one night with this woman that unearthed his deepest feelings. Sometimes, things were meant to happen this way.
