Our laughter rang out through the room as Lora showed us pictures and videos of her son. She was telling us embarrassing stories about him and what he would do at times. He looked exactly like his father and I knew that was partially the reason why she didn't bring him in the line.
She feared losing the only memory of Veno being lost again.
"When he was five he kept saying, mommy, I can fly, I can fly look and in my head, I'm like whatever kid but as I turn. This child is on the top kitchen counter, his father's shirt tied around his neck as a cape and he jumps! I've never felt so much fear enter my body until that moment. He lands in my arms and I begin crying. I nearly smacked the hell out of him.
"Are you serious?" I say, bewildered, I probably would have beat up my own kid.
