The machine held everyone together by a rope and every time something went wrong, a bit of it snapped. So everyone right now walked on eggshells. Lora and Veronica checked up on her every chance they got. I barely even left her side, unless I was absolutely needed for work, which was rare. The reason being was because she had trained them with me, to make decisions that could save us all if there was an issue.
She had done more than I had realized, even in my absence.
Her skin had recovered some color, some warmth and that gave me hope every single day. Every twice a day, I would come in with her favorite soap and candles. I would clean her and make sure to light the candles for a couple of hours. So the room smelled like vanilla and a tinge of watermelon. I made sure to unbraid her hair and moisturize it and braid it again.
