Chapter 17 - Decline.

It's about a girl named Elsa, who lived in a happy family of four comprising her mom-dad, elder sister and herself.

Elsa lost her father in a car accident when they were going to buy a cake for Elsa on her birthday.

Elsa was depressed about it and spent many nights staying awake.

Once, she was walking absent mindedly on the road in front of her small appartment. A truck was speeding towards her and her mother saw this from the appartment window. She immediately ran downstairs to get her daughter out of the way. She yelled her name to which Elsa never replied because she was too pre-occupied with the thoughts of her father's death. As Elsa's mother came running to get her daughter out of the way, she lost her own life and died though successful in saving Elsa's life.

Everybody blamed Elsa, called her a curse the devil sent from hell to destroy the lives of other just because of this stupid reason.

Elsa became even more depressed than you can imagine. She started treating herself as a fool, cursed herself, threatened her own soul. She had a mind filled with negative thoughts.

These two incidents affected her in the worst way possible. Earlier, she was a happy-go-lucky kinda girl, full of beans. She was the topper of her school and earned various scholarships too. She had many friends because of her attractive personality. But this changed everything. She failed in her exams, lost her friends not because they left her but because she thought they too will die as she loved them just the way she loved her parents.

Her elder sister Maira saw all this. She was too worried about Elsa as she was her only family left. So she decided to fix this. She went to Elsa's room, where she found Elsa sitting on her table-chair.

Maira - Elsa, what you doing ?

Elsa - Just get out of here, leave me alone.

Maira - See, I've got something for you.

Elsa turns back to see what Maira has to show, sitting on her chair.

Maira shows her a beautiful picture of them that was clicked at the beach during their vacation, the two girls standing in between their lovely parents.

Elsa - That's beautiful. (With a tear rolling down her cheek)

Maira smiles and leaves. She comes back again and ask Elsa to turn.

Elsa turns quickly to see what she has for her. Maria shows her another picture of their childhood.

Elsa - You used to look just like Mumma, I better resembled Dada.

Maira goes for the third time and come back again.

Maira - See! What I've got !!

Elsa - Yeah, show! (Excited)

Elsa turns back and to find a number of pictures Maira had. She was showing them to her one by one to which Elsa replied,

Elsa - Maira! Why don't you come closer and bring the pictures here? On my table! Why are you standing at the door, my neck is hurting now!

Maira - That's what I wanted to say.

Elsa - What do you mean ?

Maira - "Just like turning your neck back for a long time 'hurts', so does continuous looking back at your past."

Elsa started crying and ran to hug Maira and felt her cozy arms. Elsa understood the message Maira conveyed to her-hooking up to the past is not going to help, it is just going to make it worse than it already is.

The more you hold on to your past, the more painful your current existence will be.

Maira told Elsa that it was not her fault that their parents died. It was the wish of the Almighty and that he too needs some good people with him every now and then.

Not letting go is just like swimming against a current. You just have to let go and let the river bring you back home.

Elsa and Maira lived happily ever after.
