It has been a year since the family had taken Endru in. He has gotten bigger and can fly now; he even learned the language that the people spoke here. He picked up on their names and the way of the city.
They split the city by status, which Endru thought was pointless. He figured out that the family that took him in are part of the impoverished town. The father used to be a top hunter that used to put fear amongst people when they heard his name. His skills were unparalleled when it came to fighting creatures because he uses his hands instead of weapons.
But, Endru found out that all changed when the father, three years ago, ended up with a terrible injury that made it impossible for him to hunt creatures longer than two hours. The Hunter committee deemed him useless and banished him and his family to the poverty-stricken city.
Another thing that Endru discovered was how the people on this side of town get treated like crap. The family he is with gets treated the worse because the father is blacklisted in the hunters' community. Hunters have come over to the family often, harassing them and subtly trying to kill them.
The forest that borders the impoverished town and soldiers/hunters city does not have many creatures in them. But ever since the family had moved in, the forest began to fill with more and more beasts. And, because of this, the family is shunned in this town.
Endru had a sinking feeling that it was the hunters doing this. That is why Endru had snuck out in the middle of the night, following the hunters he saw surveying the house a few hours ago. He flew from tree to tree, watching the hunter spill a weird liquid on the ground that trailed from the house to the middle of the forest.
He did not understand what they were pouring, but it was most likely not good because of the evil smirks that graced the hunters' faces. They quickly left, throwing the container into a bush. Once they were gone, Endru flew down and made his way towards the bush to look for the bottle.
When he found it, he used his beak to pull it out, dropping it to the ground. He bent down, smelling the inside of the bottle. The smell was weird, and it stunk. 'What could it be?' he thought, tilting his head side to side.
But he did not have to wait long for an answer as he saw a few creatures sniffing the air, coming out of their hiding spots. Endru moved into the bushes, keeping out of sight so he could watch the beasts.
The creatures kept sniffing the air while looking around until they stumbled upon the liquid on the ground. They smelled it, only to pop back up and started to roar like they were calling for others. The beasts began to move, following the line that the hunters created, to the families home.
Endru made his way out of the bushes and started flying so he could stop in front of the creatures. After all the family has done by taking care of him and giving him a home, he wanted to protect them from harm.
When he stopped in front of them, the creatures came to a halt, looking at the little raven before them. 'Turn back or face the consequences.' Endru warned, holding out his wing like a hand stopping someone.
'Haha, what can a little thing like you do?' One of the creatures laughed, causing the others to join in. 'How cute, the baby raven thinks it is so tough.'
'I am giving you one last warning.' Endru said, glaring at the creatures. They laughed before walking again. One of the beasts pushed Endru away, only to see Endru still standing, and the beast felt like they hit a brick wall.
'What the?' The creature thought. The others, seeing what happened, stopped moving once again and looked at the little raven, not understanding what happened. Endru glared before he flapped both his wings sideways, causing a strong wind to come out.
The creatures got blown back, hitting the ground a few times before landing a few feet away from Endru. 'I told you, now bear with the consequences.'
He walked up to them, almost like he was towering over him. Endru's shadow did not look like a bird, but a blurry human shape figure with massive wings, a dragon's tail, 6-inch horns, and sharp nails. And when Endru showed his teeth, the shadow had sharpened fangs.
The creatures started to shake with fear, not understanding what monster they stumbled upon and managed to piss off. Endru took another threatening step as smoke began to fall from the corners of the inside of his mouth. 'I wonder how good these little creatures will taste roasted?' He thought as the smoke started to turn into flames.
From miles out in the forest, the screams of the creatures could be heard.
