Chereads / The Red Reaper / Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Fake

Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Fake

It's been two weeks since Leo joined Brikston and every day he was picked on and bullied. He wasn't beat up to the extent of his first day where a rib broke his skin or when he got kicked in his no-no zone, but he was beaten up a lot, often the bullies leaving him on the floor with a bloody nose or lip, or sometimes both.

Leo sighed as he ate his lunch slowly, his joints aching from this morning's beat down by a couple of people from the Chess Club. The Chess Club! He was the lowest person in Brikston, so much that the Chess Club actually looked down on him as well! It was funny to him if he were to be completely honest with himself.

But there was still so sign of the supposed "Red Reaper" of the school. If she was so popular, wouldn't he have seen her already? She didn't come to lunch apparently, and they didn't have any of the same classes as he did. She had a fan club for crying out loud! How had he not seen her already?

It was quite frustrating, but then again, he could care less. She was fake and it would only reign down negative effects in the long run than the glorious popularity that she had been experiencing at Brikston so far.

He saw a few kids pointing at him and stand up. He let out another drawn-out sigh as he shoved the rest of his mashed potatoes in his mouth, knowing very well that any food on his tray that was left would either end up on the floor next to him or on him, and he would rather it be in his stomach that either of those two options.

"Wassup pansy," A boy with dyed-green hair said, leaning over the table that Leo sat alone at as he grinned, revealing his stained yellow teeth as his cigarette-stained breath spread throughout the air, but to Leo's credit, he didn't react to the smell.

"Hello," Leo greeted politely as he kept his eyes averted downwards, not wanting to meet the boy's brown eyes. Leo watched as his tray was swiped onto the floor beside the table, making the slapping sound echo throughout the lunchroom.

"Well listen here, I'm not here to give ya grief, I'm not like that. I want you to do something for me," Leo's eyes widened just a tad at that, not expecting that in the slightest.

"W-What do you want?" He asked. Suddenly, a stack of papers flopped onto the table, replacing where Leo's tray once was.

"I want you to do all my work, of course! I'm busy after school because I have shit ton of stuff to do and I simply cannot do this work! That's where you come in, okay? You obviously didn't get into Brikston by your physical capabilities, you're the weakest here after all. So that leaves one or two options: You got here based on your mental capacity or you're loaded.

"Now, it's either one of those or both, and I'm guessing that the scholarships don't cover the books you gotta buy so you're pretty wealthy too ain'tcha?" Leo nodded his head, not having any reason to deny it.

"Yeah, my family have this big history in being scientists in the war, they made a lot of money doing that." He said, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly as the green-haired boy rolled his eyes.

"Don't care," He replied lazily. "All I care is that you do my work on time or else I'll make your life here even more of a living hell than it already is." Leo swallowed as he looked nervous as he glanced at the five inches thick of paperwork in front of him.

"O-Okay, I'll get it done by tomorrow," The boy gave him a sarcastic smile.

"That's the spirit," The teen said, patting Leo harshly on the shoulder, causing Leo's whole body to shake a little. "The name is Flynt by the way, don't forget it."

"Alright, s-see ya tomorrow Flynt," Leo said nervously, but internally he was rolling his eyes. He could beat this whole cafeteria into a pulp by himself when they were all going at him, and now he was reduced to doing a bully's homework!

'The infamous Red Reaper being reduced to a common nerd, how the mighty have fallen," Leo thought to himself as he almost snorted aloud.

How the mighty have fallen indeed.

Leo shut his locker slowly, not wanting the old and slightly rusty hinges to squeak and draw attention to himself. He heard everyone in the hallway converse talking about new weapons, training regiments, girls or boys, and of course, the one and only Red Reaper who attended their school.

It was slightly annoying to Leo, but he didn't voice it or give it much thought. In the end, the person would reap what they sow in the end. But then again, to claim to be the Red Reaper and hold that title would mean that they haven't been beaten, meaning that they should have considerable physical prowess.

As his locker shut, he felt someone throw something at him, hitting the back of his head. It wasn't large or anything, but it stung just a little bit to where it was annoying. He ignored it and put on his bookbag over his left shoulder and began walking down the hall, only to have to slow his walking as a group of girls were conversing with one another, most of the attention being focused on the black-haired girl in the middle, who, to Leo's observation, was getting increasingly annoyed by the second. He slowed down just a bit more so that the group of girls would get farther away from him.

He was close to the class, just a few more steps and he would be there, and that would mean safe from having his head smacked into a locker once again. As soon as he saw an opening, he quickened his pace, only to be violently pushed forward and knocking into the black-haired girl, a green liquid spilling everywhere on the floor, dousing him and the girl with the said liquid.

He heard a bunch of people snickering before the sound of their footsteps went away as they ran in a different direction. Leo felt his arms getting tugged up as he was dragged to his feet, a muscular teen on each arm as he was held in the air.

The girl who he had bumped into looked at him furiously, a pair of red eyes piercing into his green.

"I'm so sorry, i-it was an accident!" The girl's glare only increased with intensity, making him internally flinch. This was going to hurt.

"Do you know the hell I am?!" She shouted, getting everyone's attention in the hallway, including a few teachers who poked their heads out of their classrooms out of curiosity.

"I-I'm sorry, but I don't," Leo said meekly, trying to look at the ground, but the muscular teens who were holding him in place forced his chin up, once again meeting the soaked girl's angry look.

"I'm the Red Reaper and I'm going to kick your ass!"
