Chapter 53 - Fifty Two

We made our way into the woods and once we were about a league away from the mountains, we sent out the message. Joan dropped her blood onto the feather and it turned into a fiery red bird and flew away. We weren't sure if the message would reach John, so we just kept on travelling to Artica.

Even though we were in an entirely new country, it didn't feel like it. George once told me that travelling with the right company makes even the longest journeys seem short, but he did neglect to mention how running for your life can also make you lose track of time. Speaking of George, he, out of nowhere, started quizzing Nara on the proper ways to speak and address royalty, and she failed the test.

He stressed the importance of royal customs, but it was obvious that she didn't care. He then turned to me for help, but I'm not hellbent on stuff like that, and neither is my sister, the queen. Donatello and Nathaniel laughed the most at this ordeal, and Joan mentioned how Nathaniel and I had matured in the last few months than we have in years. Before we knew it, we were all laughing and joking around, until Arthur suddenly stopped and told us that an army was approaching us.

Meeting the army was a gamble, since we didn't know how far the spell had gotten, but it could've meant that John got the message. George and Donatello weren't willing to risk our lives for the first option, so we assumed the worst and hid in the trees around us and waited to ambush them.
