Donatello tried to lie to the officer, but they found a hole in his story and ran with it. Right when they were about to expose him, Nara called him and Joan to the back for a "checkup." In the back, she gave them the medicine they needed for Nathaniel and told them that they had to leave before the guards figured out what exactly was happening. On the way out, Donatello asked her why she was helping them.
She told him that she really didn't believe that George and Donatello were responsible for the massacre. She believed that the person in power was the one behind the whole thing. She then rushed them out and went back in. Joan and Donatello quietly made their way to the town stables to get their horse, but were stopped by a guard. The guard drew his sword and told them to reveal themselves.
They put their hands up and turned around slowly ready to attack, but when they turned around, the one voice they heard was accompanied by six other guards. They dropped their hoods and everyone exclaimed. They approached them, and then dropped to the floor. They turned to see Nara in a distance taking them out with a bow, and took the chance to mount their horse and ride away.
In the forest, they met up with Nara and they asked her to go with them, since she would be hunted down for helping them. She agreed.
While they were riding to the clearing, Joan asked Nara who was in power, and she said that since no part of the royal family was present, the head of military affairs would have the most power. Paul, Donatello's older brother.
