"Aether is quite far from here. We have about twelve hours left before we get there. Mind telling me about yourself?" The Keldoran driver who introduced themselves as Aviv was quite chirpy. Not in an annoying way but to Aidoneus, they seemed too happy about life. It was odd to see someone seemingly so happy about living. Aidoneus felt like he would be infected with positivity if he spent another twelve hours with Aviv.
" I was here some million years ago. The scenery has changed a lot around here. I remember the sidewalks being in development." As Aidoneus was saying this he felt extremely old. He was around when sidewalks were being developed. Not built, developed. But it was fascinating to see how far everything has come. Shops, restaurants, and living spaces littered the surroundings. The trains that passed and the people walking on the sidewalks and running around were all intriguing to Aidoneus. But it also confused him on some level. He could tell that a lot of these people…Aliens– Whatever they consider themselves to be, were dead. If it was back when he first came here, all of these people would be forced into contracts of some sort. He wonders what led to this change.
" Oh wow!" Aviv didn't even bother to hide his surprise. " So you've been in the system for a while. How many lives have you gone through?"
"Over a million," Aidoneus said as he watched a kid snort ice cream up their nose. ' Kids are weird as hell. Aliens or not.' He thought in slight disgust.
" It sounds amazing to live through all those lives and experience all those things. But I think I'd miss my family if I was away for so long. Didn't it get lonely?" Aviv was quite curious about the lives Aidoneus has lived. Since Aidoneus is one of the oldest transmigrators, they felt as if they were meeting with a historic figure!
If Aidoneus heard Aviv's thoughts, he would have considered throwing himself out the window. He is considered a historical figure. Wow.
" I guess at times but when you don't have anything to come back to, you grow used to being on your own," Aidoneus remembered vividly the way he would try to look at his situation in a positive way. How he'd gone out of his way to excel at his job and make sure each and every world's plot went smoothly. He wasn't fulfilling the wishes of the bodies he transmigrated into. No, he was replacing them because the original souls had given up.
Aviv looked at Aidoneus through the rearview mirror and offered a warm smile. " It's okay now. The system has changed and I hope transmigrating will be a better experience for you now. Get some rest, we won't reach another rest stop for a few hours."
The corners of Aidoneus's lips lifted slightly. It wasn't a smile but it was close enough. Aidoneus took the chance and closed his eyes for a well-needed rest.
They arrived at one of the larger stars in Aether N65. Aidoneus got out of the Keldoran and grabbed his things. Isul managed to stay asleep for the duration of the trip. Only moving around to make herself more comfortable on Aidoneus's lap.
" Well, it was nice meeting you! The cab is already paid for so you can go." Aviv didn't wait for a response before he zoomed off towards another galaxy.
Aidoneus shook Isul who was in his arms awake. When the cat only hissed instead of waking up, he brought down the mental barrier and began to yell loudly in his head. Apparently, it worked because Isul jumped awake.
" Was that necessary?" Isul asked yawning.
" Yes," Aidoneus responded giving the cat a tight smile. " Where do we go?"
" To my pod. You'll put your stuff there, get something to eat and we'll receive the plot so we can go." Isul laid her body on Aidoneus's forearm and stared straight ahead. If a cat could have a straight face, that's what could describe the expression on Isul's face.
Aidoneus managed to get to Isul's pod after getting lost multiple times. He felt the need to comment on Isul's direction-giving skills when they entered the pod.
" You suck ass at giving directions."
" Maybe you just don't know how to follow them," Isul said as she stuck out her tongue and jumped off Aidoneus's arm.
The pod was decorated pretty simply with blankets and pillows being the main components. There were no photos. But then again, why would a cat need photos of themselves? There were two bedrooms and three bathrooms. It was nice.
" If you want something to eat make it yourself. I can't cook." Isul said as she splayed herself out on the kitchen floor.
Aidoneus didn't feel the need to eat since he wasn't in a physical body. "I'm good. Do you need anything to eat?"
Isul shook her head no. Aidoneus looked at Isul for a moment and realized that if he didn't get her up she would go into another one of her sleeping spells.
" Since we have nothing to do here, give me the plot." Aidoneus went into the living room and took a seat on the couch.
Aidoneus could hear the loud groaning coming from the kitchen as Isul finally came over to where he was.
" You couldn't wait awhile?" Isul felt like crying. The floor was so comfortable!
"You can sleep once we get to the world," Aidoneus said resting his head on his hand.
" I hope your head implodes," Isul mumbled resting her head on Aidoneus's thigh.
Aidoneus has been through this process millions of times. The migraine that would usually be accompanied by receiving plots, was dulled down to a throbbing. Aidoneus moved his body so he was now laying on the couch and reviewed the plot.
[ This is a campus college story, so be prepared to become a student! This story follows the female lead, Ivanna Heath, who recently got hired at a bar as a server. Now, during one of Ivanna's night shifts at her job, she spilled a drink on the male lead, Jordan Ferray.]
Aidoneus's eye twitched a little. The amount of leads that have gotten together because of this disgusted him. What the fuck is so attractive about having something spilled on your clothes?
When the two's eyes met, it was like nothing else existed. This would have been a short and sweet romance if it wasn't for the fact that Jordan could not find it in him to settle down for the life of him. As Ivanna and Jordan hung out more and more, Ivanna found herself falling in love with Jordan. But his habits deterred her from trying to get anything out of it.
One night, Jordan's best friend wasn't picking up his phone, and Jordan just felt like spending the night with someone. So he called Ivanna. Ivanna and Jordan spent the night playing video games and eating junk food. The two's relationship strengthened and soon, they began dating.
After a few months of bliss, problems in the relationship began to arise. Though Jordan never entertained anybody after getting with Ivanna, Ivanna still felt like Jordan could be taken away from her at any moment. She wasn't rich like he was, she wasn't this model-type person like everyone around Jordan seemed to be. Jordan tried to appease her by cutting off a lot of these people, but it still wasn't enough for Ivanna.
But through multiple trials of love and error, Jordan managed to prove his undying love for Ivanna.]
The plot ended with the two getting married and Jordan following his family's footsteps and entering the world of business. Aidoneus let out a groan of annoyance. He already felt that this world would strip him of the little patience he had left.
