I could see him as he strode towards me. My heart leaped multiple times as I watched him close the distance between us.
As he came into view, my eyes registered his naked torso, gleaming lightly with sweat. I could have guessed that he was a man who took priority in keeping his body healthy but the abs clearly said so themselves.
My eyes scanned his v-line and then down his toned thighs. Damn, this man is turning me into a shameless body-oggling woman.
I gulped when he bent down in front of me. Yeah, this is it. He's going to wrink my neck for saying all those bad things behind his back. His hands made a move and I instantly closed my eyes, hoping that it would be a quick and painless death .
Seconds later, I felt his weight as the couch dipped and I opened my eyes to find him curled up in front of me on the couch. My brows rose and I gulped. Perhaps he didn't hear the awful things I said about him. But knowing him, it was more likely that he was ignoring them. Either way it's all good since I'm not dead. Yet.
Taking a deep breath, I lowered myself behind him and tried as much as possible to not breath behind his neck. It was awfully uncomfortable sleeping in that position and I couldn't help but groan silently at the situation.
Blaze was so annoying. Not only had he hogged the bed and practically forced me to sleep on the couch. Now, here he was taking up half the space on this tiny couch. And he was sound asleep too. In fact, he didn't bother to open his eyes for a micro second. He has been asleep the entire time, almost as if he had been sleepwalking.
My thoughts shortcircuted when I felt him encircle his waist with my hands. My breath caught in my throat as he snuggled in, forming the little spoon in our now spooning position.
Great, now he wants me to hug him goodnight, I thought.
I settled in for a long night, hoping that he doesn't die from a heart attack when he woke up in the morning.
Morning came way faster than usual and considering I barely got enough sleep due to my anxious thoughts, I was surprised to find him gone when I woke up. Instead, there was a note that read : Get my coffee by 8. Great, he's even ordering me around immediately after I'd woken up.
What's the next thing he's going to do?. Apppear in my dreams and order me around whiles I'm sleeping?.
I yawned from exhaustion and instinctively headed towards an open door on my right. Lucky enough it turned out to be the kitchen.
I made his coffee and dropped it off in his bedroom.
When I turned to make my way out, I saw his phone light up with a message
"Did you arrive B?"
I know I shouldn't have peeked but I wasn't really thinking straight so I did what any naturally curious human being would do.
The messages dated back from months before, from February.
"Whatsap B, I got to Canada"
Guess his girlfriend's in Canada. No wonder he sometimes stayed on his phone for longer than usual, even during conferences.
"That's great. I hope you enjoy your stay π"
Polite conversation. I never knew he could say a single word that would not be a command.
"Don't miss me too much B. I'll come as soon as I cheat on you"
Well, this one's bold. She probably knew he was not going to remain faithful to her. And that is why this mesaage seems fair.
"Really?. Sweetie, like you have the guts to even stare at another man"
And there it is, the arrogance that was his brand.
"Oh I see how it is, you arrogant handsome devil"
I definitely agreed with the devil part.
"I'll be expecting you in April, make sure all the pu--"
Blaze had just returned from a short meeting with his ancestors (that is, taking a bath) only to find Amy peeking through his phone.
"If you're so curiois about me...you can ask me anything you want", he commented.
Amy turned to look at him, the phone dropping from her hands once she recognised the devil's face. Pieces of plastic and metal flew around their feet as Blaze kept a straight face.
"help me pick out a new phone tomorrow", he whispered as Amy hurried to clean the mess she had made.
When she was done, she contemplated apologizing to her boss.
"Mr Lockheart, I'm very sorry for breaking your phone. I didn't mean to. I promise I'll fix it as soon as we get back home", she continued.
"I know a very good place that can make it look brand new for under 200dollars and-"
"apology accepted. I'm not using a fixed phone and by the way we're paying for the new phone with your allowance"
"WHAT????"
For the rest of the trip, Amy was extra careful. She had a hunch that Blaze Lockheart would make her pay for a bamboo spoon from a restaurant if she accidentally broke it.
Stingy boss.
"Earth to Amy", she heard his voice filter into her thoughts.
"sorry sir", she said while handing the file to him.
"You just have to sign and we have ourselves a deal", Blaze said with a stern face.
Through out the meeting with Shade Watkins, he had barely tried to look friendly. The most he had done was look polite. For whatever reason too, Shade was being awfully flirtatious with me.
"so tell me Blaze, where did you find yourself such a gorgeous little personal assistant?", he asked.
"what do you think Shade?. Pretty woman find their way to me", he bragged.
The corner of my upper lip twitched in annoyance and I hid a pout.
"Anyway, I would like you to seal this one with her", Shade continued.
Blaze smirked and I tried to keep up with them.
"Too bad, this one's not f*ckable"
My jaw dropped at that statement.
