Chereads / Half-blood-princess / Chapter 4 - Stranger

Chapter 4 - Stranger

Nineteen years have passed since that day. And today is Cordelia's birthday. Beautiful and slender girl with long golden hair and blue eyes. And a kind heart like her mother's.

Apart from her magnificent beauty, the princess had something that neither humans nor the demons have. She had the power of creatures and humans at the same time. She was the half-blood princess.

In the large garden of the palace, Cordelia was running with her little maid, Siren.

"You can't catch me! "She laughed, ran fast. Tried to be quicker without using any magic to be fair to her tiny maid.

"Oh, your grace! I bet you are using magic!" She shouted, running after Cordelia. As Cordelia turned her face to reply, she ran to a boy's belly. She took a step back immediately.

"Oh, my... I'm sorry. I didn't see you!" She gasped, looked at him, embarrassed.

"Yeah, maybe, or maybe ordinary people are too little for the princess to see."

Moments later, Siren reached Cordelia and shyly stood behind her, according to the royal rule.

"I just apologized!" She protested, replied to the guy.

"I don't think you mean it. You 'Royals' don't care at all," he smirked.

"Who are you?" Cordelia asked, folding her arms on her chest.

"I heard Castel is hiring a stable boy, so I thought I might be able to get a job. He took off his torn hat bows, then added." Despite that, I got hit by the princess."

Cordelia got offended." I didn't hit you! It was an accident! You are so rude! "

The boy winked at Siren as he was trying to teas Cordelia even more.

"I didn't see you, my lady, my apologies." He turned to walk out, ignoring Cordelia, she shouted." I didn't hit you!" She kicked the ground, her foot hit a rock, causing the rock to fly in the air and hit the back of the boy's head.

He rubbed his head, pretended to be annoyed, and turned to face her" Ouch! I guess I should be thankful for that 'princess'" he mocked her and walked away.

"He is a jerk; we shouldn't let him get hired!" Cordelia whispered.

"What you want to do?" Siren raises an eyebrow.

"Just see." She took a deep breath, tightened her fist.

Cordelia left to her father's work chamber, where he had a meeting with his ministers. She waited for it to be finished then bowed politely. She looked furious, her cheeks were red out of anger, and she was biting her lower lip, she always did when she was angry.

King: "So, explain what happened to make you so angry?"

"This stable boy, or whatever he is, gave me a hard time. He is a jerk, kick him out, I can't tolerate him around."

"She relived angrily. Then the King nodded, turned his face to glance at the minister.

"Take Siren with you to recognize this boy, as soon as you find him, tell him to go." He obeyed and walked away with Siren.

In the courtyard, next to the stables, ten boys stood in line in silence, waiting to be elected. Only the boy who dealt with Cordelia was talking about his skills. He kept talking without anyone listening.

He was rambling on about how much he was skilled in brushing horses and make them calm when they get out of control. The minister reached for him with the shy Siren. She stood beside him quietly with her cheek red. She always had a gentle smile on her face.

"Who are you, so talkative and proud of yourself?"

"I am Noah, sir, a boy from the village, eager to work, and love horses."

Siren stood in silence; the boy kept talking, "Oh, it's you? My lady? Please tell them that I'm so good."

"Did you meet before?" The minister raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, sir, a few hours ago in the garden."

"Then, you are fired!"

"Why? I'm sure you're mistaken."

"Am I?"

"No, you never wrong, actually you are right, but I have lots of abilities. You have to. I mean, you should accept me."

"You were rude to the princess."

"I wasn't. The princess is too touchy. I appreciated her beauty, ask this lady. "He lied.

"I'm not a lady, "Siren replied politely."

"To me, everyone is a lady..."

He kept talking and talking and talking like he has no button to be silenced or turned off, the minister ordered the guards to lead him out, and I swear he was still talking while leaving the gate. Siren giggled turned to follow the minister into the castle.

Kat, Cordelia's Special Servant. She was preparing a hot bath for her. At this point, the princess entered. Seeing her, Kat smiled and walked over to her, gently and respectfully stroked her shoulders, started to comb her hair so much that it began to shine. Then Kat took her to the bathroom and put her in the bathtub to wash the princess.

She had to wash Cordelia carefully and gently, as Cordelia could not control her body's heat, and she may burn Kat's palm or even evaporate the water in the tub, as she could not control her magical powers.

Cordelia explained whatever happened to her this morning, and septa listened and tried to calm her down with her sweet words.

"Kat, today is my birthday. Princes from all over the world would come to see me. I'm scared they hate me like the boy who I met earlier today. "

"No worries, child, he was a common boy, the princes all will behave, trust me."

Cordelia always did trust her, so she smiled and played with her little doll, which she made herself in one of her classes.

The princes soon rode into the palace on their black and white horses and golden carriages. They were tall and short, ugly and beautiful, strong and weak, and in short, of all kinds and from all countries gathered here to attract the princess.

They get into the enormous great hall of the Castle of Mainland. For daughters and their mothers for years held the land for. And now it was Cordelia's turn to accept the kingdom from her father. The walls of the palace were filled with portraits of former queens, leading the eyes into the picture of the slain queen.

He sat royally on top of the Great Hall, and the princes went forward one by one to introduce themselves with a bow.

When almost everyone got into the great hall, huge doors opened. The princess entered into the great hall with a proud smile, holding her septa's arm, let her lead the way to the throne next to her father, as she sits by his side, glanced at the crowd.

"You should pick one Cordelia, then we can get your mother's revenge," he assured her.

"Fine, father, I will choose as I see the right..." She couldn't finish her sentence. Noticed the boy in the prince's crowd, Noah was staring at her with greedy eyes. She sighed in hatred,

"What is he doing here?" She snapped.

"Who?" The King replied, but in a blink of an eye, Cordelia was already in front of the boy.

"Wow, how could you do that?' he smirked.

"I didn't kick you out?" Cordelia furrowed her brows.

"I get myself back." Noah raised an eyebrow.

Cordelia stared at him in Confusion. Something in that boy was unusual; he was too proud of himself; however, he looked shy and friendly. She didn't know how to respond to these kinds of boys. Usually, everyone, especially boys, loved her or pretended to love her, but obviously, Noah wasn't like others.
