Chapter 15 - Weekends with Matthews Pt 1

"Friendship's the wine of life."

"Jakey, come on!"

"Nope, not happening." I shook my head.

"Don't be a spoilsport! It'll be fun! Plus, they have Disney songs!"

"Still-"

"No still, no buts no ifs, no can'ts." She grabbed my shoulders and looked at me straight into the eye. "It's I can and I will."

What have I done?

Well, if you don't know what happened- give me the honors to tell you exactly what happened. After the entire 'trying-to-name-the team-but-ending-up-having-nothing' we all went home to enjoy our weekend. I had no idea how the others were enjoying it- but I knew mine.

Elena and I 'supposed' to be staying at home, chilling. But 'chilling' didn't even describe the situation we were at. When I was young, I loved Laser-Tag . I used to watch people talking about how awesome laser-tag was and I always wanted to try it out. Hence, on my fourteenth birthday, my parents bought a bungalow that was entirely used for laser-tag. All in all, that bungalow was one of my favorites.

But, I wasn't there.

You see, when you have a younger sibling, you need to give them attention. You need to listen to them ramble about their day and talk to them about - literally- anything and everything. This applied to me cause my parents weren't around to listen to her ramblings. So, I had to hear their share too.

Not that I was complaining.

So, where were we exactly, you ask?

The simple answer to this question was: A café - which had a karaoke.

Right now, Elena was dragging me to sing with her. Every time, someone mentioned karaoke- she would be the first one to sing. In our family - she was somehow the only one with the voice of an angel. Somehow.

Because mom didn't sing and dad, well...

I never heard him sing.

I was a horrible singer. I never took any lessons and didn't sound as awesome and amazing as my sister. But, she still insisted me to sing. I would've tried to sing if it was 'family only' but I definitely didn't have the guts to sing in front of an audience. I still remember I had to sing a song from a Disney movie - what was the name, again?

Heh, it was really a long time ago.

Point is, I embarrassed myself and after that day, nobody heard that song because every time they did, it reminded them of me.

So, back to what was happening.

"You know I can't sing, Elena. Why won't you let it be that way?!" I whined. She kept 'literally' dragging me on to the stage.

"Because you're my brother and I am not giving up on you." Elena argued.

I raised an eyebrow. "That's not the only reason."

"They're giving $5oo bucks to the best singer of the day!"

"You won't get it if I go with you." I reasoned. "Sing solo, E."

She sighed. "Fine, but you owe me this."

"I'll make it up to you, I promise." I smiled, hugging her. She was the best.

"And it's warm and real and bright,

And the world has somehow shifted,

All at once, everything is different,

Now that I see you, now that I see you."

She bowed as everyone of us clapped for her. She had sung 'I see the light' from Tangled and might I add- this song was her favorite. Every single time it played on t.v, she used to dash towards the living room to watch it - from anywhere.

And I mean ANYWHERE.

She jumped off stage and made a beeline towards the back of the café, where I was sipping my cappuccino. She took a seat across me and smirked.

"Now," She started, an evil grin on her face. "About that 'making it up to you, I promise' thing."

"What do you wanna have?" I asked.

"Hmm." She rubbed her chin with her thumb and index finger as she scanned the menu. "Lemme think."

"What's there to think? You can have what you always have." At that point, I didn't notice the evil smirk she was giving me. I was too focused on the drink at hand. Whenever she smirked like that, she definitely had something in mind.

"Nah..what's the fun in that? How about-"

What I did know - she was ready to make me go bankrupt.

Man, girls and shopping are co-related.

In my case, girls, shopping and food were co-related.

Let's hit the mall.
