I drove straight home by home I meant my sister's and her husband's house but I couldn't dare live elsewhere, Cecil wouldn't allow it, every time I was in town she wanted me in her house. I shook my head trying to conceal a smile.
I was happy and I couldn't wait to break the good news to Cecil. I got to the huge gates as fast as I could, it opened and I drove in. My car wasn't properly parked when I flew out of the car. "Cecil!" I called excitedly.
"Shush, you'll wake the baby." She angrily muttered.
"Where is Jimmy?" I asked.
"Unlike you, some of us have businesses to attend to. Hmm, why are you giddy so early in the morning?"
I wasn't surprised at her question, she usually could read me like a book. "I kind of patched things with Stacey."
Her eyes nearly flew out of her socket. "Wow! I knew you could do it but I wasn't really that hopeful. I am proud of you."
She had this habit where she spoke to me like I was younger. "Cecil…"
