I laid back enjoying the aftermath of a good meal while Allen sat across me watching my every move and for some reason it made me a little self-conscious as I laid sprawled on the couch.
He was being so caring and thoughtful that I couldn't do anything else except sit down and enjoy the special care. I knew better than to get used to it because when you think everything is bright and dandy, life shows up at your doorstep and you realize there are more downs in it than ups.
I lifted myself from the couch, if I stayed any longer I was likely to fall asleep. "You don't have to help me I can handle this myself," I said to Allen as he stood up to join me in clearing the dishes.
"Too late, my hands are too full to drop anything. Lead the way."
