The next day, I woke up pretty late. I stepped out of my room to find my parents chatting in the living room. It was the weekend so as expected, they didn't have to go to work. My dad was an accountant and my mum was an estate manager. Their jobs usually kept them busy for the most part of the week and I hardly spend any time with them but the weekend was entirely different.
"Good morning Dad, good morning mum," I said when I was close enough, I struggled to keep my yawn in as I spoke.
"Oh look who decided to wake. You look like you slept well." My mum muttered, she was looking exceedingly bright this morning. Her red hair highlighted the freckles on her cheeks. She really was a pretty woman.
"Yeah, I did…" I paused looked around, having confirmed that it was just my parents I asked about the guest from last night. "Where's Aunt Carly?"
I had passed by her room, I had half the mind to knock but decided against it. I had absolutely nothing to tell her except to interrogate her and I doubt anybody would like that. Besides, I wasn't certain she would be in her room and if there was anybody I should ask questions, it should be my parents.
My mother's eyes widened at my question but instead of answering she blatantly changes the subject. "Breakfast is ready, since you were not awake I kept yours in the refrigerator. Microwave it!"
Her last sentence sounded more like an order than how to get my food warm. I turned to look at my dad for help but he already had his attention to the television. They were addicts from movies, to shows, to animations. My parents could watch anything.
I swallowed my questions and headed straight for the kitchen. My mum seemed a little upset and it was rare to see her so. The kitchen was as big as my room, the granite countertop stood in the middle of it. To the right of the door was the refrigerator and I walked up to it.
I took out my meal, microwaved it like she asked- not that I intended to eat it cold -and ate in silence as my mind churned. I remembered that Mia has also ignored the subject too on the account that she and seen no lady.
Halfway through my meal, excruciating pain hit me. It was unlike anything I had ever felt. I couldn't pinpoint exactly where the pain was coming from but it felt like my entire body was being crushed from the inside. I screamed at the top of my lungs and everything went black.
I woke up sometime later, I was in my bedroom. The flowery ceiling was the first thing I saw, the red roses staring back at me like someone had splattered blood all over my ceiling. I hated plain colors so I had insisted that my ceiling be painted.
"She's awake," I heard a voice say but I couldn't tell who it belonged to exactly, I tried to look but my head felt too heavy to turn.
"Don't move," it was Aunt Carly. The only reason I could tell it was her was that she was hovering directly above me and once again I found her gray stare uncomfortable.
"You need all the rest you can get. Try not to get out of bed unless you have to." She continued.
"What is wrong with me?" I directed the question to my dad for he had also leaned towards me.
"We don't know Bella."
I frowned but the pain increased so I had to stop. "Then why am I home and not in the hospital."
"Carly…" My mum started but got interrupted.
"This is better until we know for sure what is wrong with you." Aunt Carly said to me, her eyes didn't blink the whole time she spoke, I found I was the one who was blinking. Her stare was that uncomfortable.
"But I thought that's the point. The doctors would be able to tell what is wrong, staying here might just make whatever this is worse."
"This is fine, you'll be fine. How do you feel?" Aunt Carly's face broke into sadness, care, or worry. I wasn't sure but I was certainly surprised.
I wanted to protest more but the look on her face prevented me so I simply answered her question. "Pain mostly around my head, and my stomach feels weird though I might just be hungry. How long was I out?"
"About thirty minutes, I was worried sick." My mum's face suddenly appeared in front of my face, tears could be seen at the corners of her eyes. I couldn't begin to imagine how this situation could be for her.
"She'll be fine before the end of today, she should be able to move around again." Aunt Words gave me slight unease.
I couldn't comprehend how she was able to convince my parents to not take me to a hospital, that would have been their first thought but I couldn't dare question Carly's words, I didn't want to worry them.
"Try to get some rest," my mother was saying, disrupting my thoughts. "I will bring something up for you to eat. Okay?"
I smiled to tell her I was fine, I would have said it in words but this whole expenditure was slowly tiring me. As if Aunt Carly noticed for she immediately said, "We'll you now."
I watched them move out, my mother with her hair loosely tied up in a ponytail and the mess of hair that was atop my father's head, he must have been running his hands through them. It was something he did when he was exceedingly worried.
I heard the door shut and closed my eyes. I was really tired, getting some sleep would do me good at least the headache had gone down some. I doubted I would be awake when my mother comes with my supposed meal.
"Where is the ring?" A voice cut through my thoughts, I have only heard it a few times but I knew who it belonged to and my eyes flew open immediately.
