Chapter 177 - CHAPTER 176: killing the beast.

I spread my four wings as wide as I could before I rushed at my opponent with all the speed I could muster. I manipulated the air and the fire that I engulfed myself in to actually break the sound barrier.

But before I could reach it, the demon moved away. Only allowing me to damage its shoulder. After this it swung one of its massive claws at me.

In order to protect my torso, I shielded myself with my two lower wings while I used my original ones to keep balance.

When the attack landed, I could feel the force of impact echoing trough my body.

I was once again thrown to the side only this time my left lower wing was thorn off. Not that having it was essential for my flight. But apart from the multiple times I died, I had never been hurt this badly. And it would also take verry long for my wing to regrow.

I could feel my nearly black blood dripping from my wound as I prepared myself to take the offensive once again.

Using my two upper wings I lifted myself up from the ground and roared louder than thunder. I engulfed myself in flames once again. This time crating more fire to add to my body.

Even if this was not my true form it would temporarily allow me to grow much bigger than I actually was. Tough the downside was that if the demon used its air attack again, I would be damaged more heavily than last time.

But I would not allow it to do that again.

Now standing at the same hight as the massive beast I was already preparing my next move.

As it opened one of its mouths to attack, I compressed some of my fire along with some rocks from the mountain that I previously had been buried under.

With its mouth wide open it was the ideal target for me to test this magic out on. I let the rocks formed the centre of the long lance like projectile that I created while the fire surrounded it

Right before the demon was able to shoot out its magic attack, I pierced its scull tough its mouth. The flames burned forth in their fierce glory even far after the shrieking of the burning head had stopped.

The beast cried out in pain as it had just lost another one of its heads.

It was furious and was now done with playing around. Eerily glowing red patterns spread all throughout its body before it launched at me.

I never tried to dodge. I had just suspected that it could not touch me while I was engulfed in flames and would just go trough me. All while maybe even burning itself.

But that did not happen. The beast managed to pin me down to the ground and tried to bite me in the face. But since I did not just lay still it only managed to break one of my horns before I kicked it in the stomach.

Now that we were separated again, I looked at the beast with a malicious smile.

I had never suspected that it would be able to touch me like this. And thus, I had not tried to physically attack it while standing at the same height.

If the beast had not attacked me first, I would never have tried this.

I bit the beast in the neck while I used the blade on the tip of my tail to fend off the other heads that tired to attack me. Even tough the beast managed to scrape open my chest with its claws I had managed to bite of one other head.

Then the beast decided to attack me from two sides at once while I was still trying to get some new space between us.

It was the same air type attack as earlier. With the little time that I had to think, I managed to create an air-based barrier on one side to limit the damage. Tough the air type magic on the other side continue to wear my body further down to the point where I had to get rid of the extra fire and shrink down to my usual size and taking a physical form again.

But that did not matter.

I let the access fire form a sphere above our heads while I continued to fight the beast.

I made the ground split open while gigantic spikes made of solid rock shot up to pierce the stomach of the demon. While at the same time the beast let lightning strike with every step I took. And let out a maelstrom of fierce winds that cut through my scales like a scythe trough a field.

But every time I tried to strike the beast, I let some of my fire join the ever-growing sphere above our heads.

Until eventually I decided that it was enough.

The fiery mass shrunk and grew brighter until it almost resembled a new sun. As fast as I could control it, I let the mass strike the beast down.

It was almost like a shooting star had fallen out of the heavens and slammed down on the beast.

While it let out its final tortured cries the residue fire set what was left of the forest ablaze.

The moment the beast died I could feel how the mark was doing its work. The soul, the life force and the magic of the beast were all getting transferred to me.

Realising that I would be in big trouble if I passed out in the open, I flew back to the cave as fast as my wings could carry me.

Feeling my mind already dazing off I managed to crash into the entrance of the cave before blacking out due to blood loss and the so caller reward after killing such a strong demon.
