Chapter 143 - CHAPTER 142: take me with you.

It looked like her right arm would start to die off soon. The black veins were slowly spreading.

Despite it being my blood that was the cause of this, I had no idea how to stop it. if I did not make a move quickly the veins would spread to where fatal damage would be inevitable.

I could hear how her heart started to slow down in an attempt to buy as much time as possible for the rest of the body to survive. Her breathing became slower and heavier. She stared to slip away.

She looked up and smiled. "You are not as bad as I imagined your kind to be. Maybe people will actually start to worship you someday."

"Don't talk like you are dying." I snarled. " If necessary, I will merge your mind and soul together and trap you inside a doll."

But she was already unconscious.

Knowing that any amount of time that I wasted could be her last I cut off her shoulder with the blade on my tail. She would lose her arm, but I felt like her life was worth more than that. After letting the wound bleed out for a moment to make sure that any of my blood that had spread beyond her shoulder would be disposed of this way, I burned the wound shut.

I let out a sigh of relief and stepped back. the black veins were still spreading trough the arm that laid on the floor. When it could no longer spread it stared to eat away at the flesh until only a husk of black skin and bones was left.

I shivered as I thought back to the time when I had washed my blood of in a lake when I just got my wings. I did not know if it had the same effect since, I was a lot weaker back then, but it would be safe to assume that most of the fish there died.

Scared that her wound would start to get worse again, I stayed with her a little longer. When there was no sign of the infection spreading again, I flew up trough the hole in the tent. I spent a considerable amount of time killing as much wendigos as I possibly could. I was not planning on staying in this world much longer and I wanted to get the most out of it.

When I returned to the camp, I could hear people discuss about whether or not they should kill Leonor. Apparently, they believed that she had betrayed them and send me out to kill them.

When the people realised that I was back, some ran, others either froze, fainted, or threw up. They knew that they couldn't even lay a finger on me if I did not want them to. They had no chance to win in a fight against me.

I rolled my eyes when they respectfully made the way clear for me. As if they had not just discussed whether or not they should kill someone that I had taken effort for to save. It was quite easy to deduce that she would no longer be safe here.

I carefully picked her up and flew of with her. But not after setting some of the tents on fire.

While flying I accidentally cut her a few times with my claws and the sharp edges of my scales. But I figured that she probably wouldn't feel it.

It did not take long for me to reach the place where the gate to hell was opened. Even outside I could tell that it was still open.

I placed Leonor on the ground, half leaning against a wall of the building. There I waited for her to wake up.

Afterall waking up in a place close to a hell portal with your arm missing couldn't be fun. Especially if you were alone. Tough I did not know if it was any better to wake up with a demon in front of you.

While I waited, I saw some strange footprints in the area. Some demons must have clawed their way trough the portal while I wasn't there to kill them as soon as they did. Not that I really cared, I was about to leave this place anyways.

I looked back at Leonor when I noticed that she was waking up.

Confused she looked around. "Where are we?"

Her voice was rusty and broken. It clearly showed how much she had been weakened.

"Close to where you met me. how are you feeling?"

"Like a horse kicked me in the stomach and someone burned my arm of."

"The later was me. sorry for that."

She faintly smiled. "I did not know that demons could apologise."

I shrugged and stood up. "Well, it was my fault, wasn't it? it was my blood that made your arm basically rot away."

Before she could speak again, I immediately stopped her. "listen, we can go back and forth about how we got to this point. But that does not matter. Right now, I am planning to go back to hell, and you are missing an arm while your people were planning to kill you. I could drop you off somewhere. Name a place and I will get you there. After that you probably won't hear from me again"

She stopped for a moment while she thought of somewhere I could bring her before I left.

"Take me with you."

"Wait what? You do realise that I am going to hell, right? There is a reason why my blood I poisonous, why my scaled are so hard that most blades shatter when they try to pierce them, and why I can breathe fire. Hell is a nasty place."

"I know, it is just that after all the things I have done in my life. I would probably end up there one way or another. But now at least I know that I have chosen to go there myself. and at least I am not going by myself."
