Chapter 129 - CHAPTER 128: Pray like your life depends on it.

I flew back to where the dwarf worked. Yet while I approached, I started to notice something odd about the area.

It was like an unknown force stared to take hold of my mind, much like the temptation of the summoning circle and the bait the search party used to try and lure me out.

I entered the building while whatever influenced me started to affect me more and more.

I could hear how the dwarf jelled at my father to search in a certain area. But the words barely connected to me.

When I stepped into the room the influence became much worse to the point, I could barely hold myself back. Paper and materials laid everywhere, and I saw how the dwarf ran from one side of the room to the other.

Both him and my father froze when they saw me. the dwarf who stood the closest to me slowly took a few steps back.

"Gustave, can you hear me?"

I did not respond. Whatever was placed in this room was trying to force me to attack them.

The Dwarf snapped his fingers to try and get more of my attention.

"Gustave, I need you to get away now! that piece of shit hid an item here that forces demons to attack basically everything that moves."

I was already trying to get away. I really was. But I could barely form a single thought let alone moving. I managed to bite my hand in an attempt to clear my mind but did not work. It actually made things even worse as the smell of my own blood only helped driving me mad.

I let go of my hand and liked the blood of my fangs while the wound closed. I slowly looked down at the dwarf.

Without losing sight of me he spoke to my father. "Dave, I need you to grab my bag. The one made with an extremely thick black leather. In that bag is still some of that tread made of the fur of a divine beast. We need to restrain him while he is still somewhat sane."

"But won't that hurt him?"

"He is going to hurt us a lot more if we can't destroy the object before he can no longer hold back."

My father slowly walked towards where all the materials of the dwarf laid. After moving some of the tings to the side he freed the bag out of the pile of trach that the dwarf had collected.

The moment the bag was opened I could feel the holy energy of the material spreading trough the room. this was the final push to drive me over the edge.

With a loud snarl I dashed at the dwarf. I tried everything I could not to attack them. And maybe it worked or maybe my mind was just too foggy to estimate the distance. Therefore, he managed to escape with only a deep cut on his arm. This bought him the little more time that it took me to turn around and lounge a second attack.

I tried to strike him with my right hand. But before I could reach him, I felt a burning pain on my wrist.

When I looked behind me, I saw how my father held the tread clutched around my wrist. He quickly threw the other end of the thread to the dwarf. The dwarf then managed to catch my neck with it in one fluent motion.

"Quick Dave, do you have any weapons on you? Something that can hold him down a little longer?"

"No, I am no longer permitted to carry my spear when Atlantis is not under direct attack."

"In that case, pray. Pray like your life depends on it! because that is actually the case now."

I managed to knock my father over with my tail while he was distracted. In an instant I managed to snap the tread on my wrist, thus partially freeing myself.

My first instinct was to seek out his blood. However, he started to pray to the gods of order and chaos. The faint holy energy that came with the prayers made him a less alluring target and so my attention shifted back to the dwarf.

In the time that I focused on attacking my father he had grabbed one of the metal bars that he mainly used as a crafting material for the objects that he made.

"It must be somewhere between the lose bricks in the wall. Focus on that, I will try to either send him to hell or buy as much time as possible."

"Do you really have to send him to hell?"

"Right now, we are dealing with a feral demon somewhere between the mid and the high ranks. If I don't manage to do it quick enough, he would probably make our insides our outsides."

My father seemed to be a bit unnerved by the words of the dwarf, but he got up as soon as he could and started to check the walls.

Meanwhile, the tread was not of much use when only the dwarf was holding it. I slammed him across the room. I could hear some of his bones break when he hit the wall. In an instant I managed to free myself of the last of the treads and prepared to finish him.

As I got close the dwarf gathered all of his remaining strength and managed to hit me in the face with the steel bar. I barely noticed it and all wat it accomplished was that the bar snapped and half of it made a clear clattering sound as it hit the stone floor.

The sound and the faint impact of the bar made me snap back for a little while. But then I resumed the attack. I wrapped my tail around the dwarf and lifted him of the ground so that I could bite his head off.

In a final attempt of defending himself he tried to place he remains of the steel bar between my teeth. But it soon melted away by the scoring flames that were coming out of my throat.

"I got it!"

The sudden sound drove my attention away from the dwarf and I turned around to see my father standing with a dark brown totem made of a slightly luminescent red stone and metal.

Because I was mainly driven on impulse and instinct at this moment I let go of the dwarf and turned to my father.

Not knowing what to do he threw the totem in our direction.

Seeing the projectile move towards me, I caught it between my teeth. And after a bit of pressure. It crumbled to pieces.
