Chapter 103 - CHAPTER 102: you had to go.

When Beatrice accompanied by the two men approached, I saw that she had dyed her hair to make it harder for them to recognise her.

She was actually doing a good job at acting as she guided them to the ruins where I currently resided. She was playing the part of someone that was picking herbs to make medicine out of for her sore throat.

When she saw some growing on the stones near the ruins, she saw the strange claw markings. She explained to the two man that she believed that the beast had taken shelter in the ruins. Because the markings were fresh, yet she found animal corpses from a few weeks old.

But despite her amazing acting, both Gert and the man that killed me did not truly believe her.

From the way Gert reacted to her story, I could tell that he thought of this as a mere waste of time. Yet he did show up.

This made me believe that they were extremely caseous here. And whenever unidentified traces appeared people would be sent to investigate.

With both Gert's former job as a guard and the achievement of the man that now walked beside him. It wouldn't be weird that there was a group of people with some experience with demons that investigated these occurrences.

Afterall, they could not afford that history would repeat itself.

However, in contrast to Gert's clearly bored attitude, the man that killed me had at least some interest in Beatrice's story.

He probably wanted to make an even bigger name for himself with slaying two demons. This in the hope of masking his previous failure.

I stayed till as the trio approached.

The man that killed me immediately showed a great interest in the markings that I had left behind. He was amazed by the length of the claws that made it and how big the creature must have been.

he was starting to get his hopes up that this was truly a demon.

"Are you sure that this is not some kind of bear?" Gert asked in an unamused tone.

"No. I am sure that this is not a bear. Don't you see the length that must be in between the fingers? That is simply not the structure of a bear's paw. And the claws of a Bear are not hard enough to leave such deep markings in stone like this."

While they were talking, I quietly jumped out of the building where I was hiding.

The tall grass barely made a sound as I snuck up behind them.

While he was still examining the marks, the man that had killed me suddenly saw that some drips of red were on the grass. Soon after I pulled my claws out of his chest and he fell dead on the ground.

yes, this man was the one that killed me and made me spend three years in hell. And I was truly furious for that. But he was not the one that betrayed me and my followers.

I turned to Gert that was looking at the corpse with a horrified expression on his face.

Slowly I circled around Gert. "Hello Gert. I believe that it has been a while since we last saw each other. How have you been?"

His focus was now completely on me as I licked the man's blood of my hand. He did not say a word during this time and just stared.

I glanced at him from the corner of my eyes. "You know Gert. Most species see it as impolite not to answer a question and to just stare."

"I did what I had to."

His words were soft and even I could barely make them out.

I bowed down a little so that I could talk to him face to face.

"Tell me, why was it necessary to kill me and the broken ones?"

I saw how he reached out to his sword that hung by his hip.

Seeing this action, I raised an eyebrow. "remember what I did to your last sword?"

He seamed to make e=up his mind after that and just took a step back.

"I did it because you and all those around you are a danger to this world. You have seen what those demons did in the stone city and I have seen it many more times before. I don't know what you want and why you wanted to follow us that badly while pretending that you did not want to cause any harm. But I know that you are the same as all those other demons and therefore you had to go."
