It was already noon when she awoke. I decided that, that was a good thing since it could cause a lot of trouble if we travelled during the day.
Therefore, we waited for a few hours before we continued our travels. It did not take us long to find said coast after that.
Like the previous town, this one was ever so delightfully decorated with many colourful lights.
A few large ships rested on the shore, awaiting their next travels. People were still bringing crates with food on board and loud voices could be heard coming from the bars at the borders of the town.
I landed a few hundred meters away from the town.
But neither of us approached. Tough it was unlikely that people would realise that she was doing work for a demon. It would still be suspicious and unsafe to go at this hour.
Therefore, we waited until it was morning.
I advised her to go to sleep again since it would be best if she were fully awake when she would search for clues to find Atlantis. And if this was the right town to begin with.
Of course, she agreed without a second thought.
When eventually the time came that would be most convenient, I sent her to the town.
Just to make sure that everything would be fine, I entered her mind beforehand.
This made her feel a little uneasy. But she didn't complain.
I felt a little bad for her due to this. Especially when she got a few flashbacks from when she was used by the other demon. It honestly surprised me that she did not have a panic attack.
I let her in control sine I did not want to make her feel more uncomfortable than she already did. So, I could only look through her eyes and speak to her.
I could see that the streets were already crowded. People were selling dishes made of fish and performing dances on the streets. there was a lot of music and laughter. Something that was to expect during these warmer times of the year.
The please was truly lively and happy. Or at least, it would seem that way.
There were guards all over the place. there was a thon of weapons for sale and priest handed out holy water.
There were also people with wounds that were infected with the corruption. I theorised that those were caused by being hurt by an infected person, since it did not seem like they were being manipulated. They were often seen around the priests, in hoop of healing due to the holy nature that surrounded them.
Beatrice eventually found an inn. It was a little quieter there. The light that shone trough the open windows made the interior look spacious and clean.
Something that I did not expect in such a place as this.
There were a few people at the bar listening to the music outside while enjoying their breakfast. The pleasing scent of the food reached me even while taking in the surroundings through the dull senses of Beatrice.
Since I would have a hard time entering the town and Beatrice was not planning on staying here, she did not book a room at the reception and want straight to the bar.
("Beatrice, on your left!")
She was a bit startled when she suddenly heard my voice in her mind. But she quickly shook it off and looked to her left.
It was hard to tell from the corners of her eyes, but when she looked that way my suspicions were confirmed.
Noah sat there on a table eating some fried eggs while staring out of the window with a bored expression on his face.
He had gained some wrinkles and did not look as lively as he was before.
"Should I approach him?" Beatrice whispered.
She was not sure how me looking in her mind worked, and she was afraid that I might not hear it if she just thought it.
I smiled; even though I knew that she would not be able to tell.
("Yes. He has probably been here for longer than you have, so he might know more.")
She nodded and walked up to Noah.
He did not notice her at first. But when she stood right in front of him a small spark of hope shone in his tired and nearly lifeless eyes.
Despite the slight improvements he still looked sad. As if a close relative of him just had died.
"Hello Beatrice. How have you been?"
He spoke with a forced smile.
She sat down in front of him.
"Quite well actually. I managed to bring him back."
"Do you mean…"
"yes," She happily exclaimed. "He can't enter this town for obvious reasons. But he is watching us right now."
"That is great to hear!"
Noah still looked a little down. And hearing that I was watching them did not really make it better.
This worried me. I remembered him being a great and calm leader. However, now he was just so quiet and forcing himself to look happy.
("Can you ask him what is wrong? It is hard for me to enter his mind all the way over here.")
"Oh, he asked what is wrong."
Noah looked up. He nervously rubbed his face and sighed.
"I figured that this would come out eventually..." He hesitated for a moment before he continued. "Rick, Hakim and even Sarah did not make it and I don't know what happened to Quinte."
("Let him explain this more!") I needed to know what happened. Were they all dead? How?
"He asks if you can explain this a little more." Beatrice also sounded concerned. Afterall, she wanted to know what happened to her little sister.
"That traitor, Gert. Told that bastard who were involved with our lord. After that he decided that we were too dangerous to be kept alive since we still could have some connections with our lord. Quinte and I survived, but we lost each other wile we were trying to escape. So, I settled here in hopes of our lord's return and to await any news of Quinte."
Beatrice begun to panic. Because I was directly linked to her mind right now, she also received some of my emotions. She was afraid of the immense fury that I felt right now.
