Deeper and deeper I ventured in the already twisted mind of this man. Looking through his memory's, I could see nothing but fraud and abuse.
He was a mere bystander as I made my way through the entirety of his being, only capable of witnessing his own horrid acts when I witnessed them.
I had long since realised that I would not be able to corrupt him any further with merely spectating his mind. Even playing some of his most painful and regretful memories on loop, nothing much changed as it only drove him to madness, not obedience.
Of course, I could make a deal with him. If he did as I asked, then I would leave him alone. But I didn't have the time nor priority to torture him every time this man pulled one of his many tricks. And this micht be my only chance to learn how to do this.
I left his consciousness for a little while to let him recover a bit. If I made him go insane it micht not work the way I intended or not give me the proper experience to use this when I know how to do this.
("Should I ask the dwarf? No, he will immediately get suspicious of me when I do so.") I also didn't want to bother the broken humans with this. thus, I had no way of getting help.
I leaned against the wall and watched the crying man rolling around. If I didn't see the memories of him torturing others, using them and the brutal slaughtering's he committed in the name of sacrifices, I micht had felt bad for him. But, at least in my eyes, he deserved everything he got.
I grinned as I suddenly had an idea of what micht be the way to corrupt him.
He saw how my expression changed. Cold sweat dripped down his forehead as he tried to get away. This was how I realised that you can actually smell fear. The sweat produced by heath and exercise is simply different than that of anxiety and fear. I did not know why it took me this long to realise that, but it was an interesting development.
"Well then. Are you ready for round two?"
He stopped moving when I penetrated his mental barrier again.
I had already seen how the mind soul and body were linked. So, this time I was going to try and take the terrible memories and emotions from the mind and place them directly in the soul. If this also didn't work, I might as well drop him somewhere and force him to tell everyone who asks that he was attacked and tortured by thieves and that he miraculously escaped. For that I had to actually spill some of his dirty blood on this floor, but at least it won't get me in trouble if I do it believable enough.
The man screamed as I managed to drag the first set of memories over to is soul. I saw how they were slowly getting wrapped around it, covering it with the all too familiar black and brown substance. It wasn't much, I did not use a lot of his pain to corrupt his soul. He had to be in a reasonable state if it didn't work out after all.
Now that I had successfully corrupted him further than what he already was on his own, I could see some interesting patterns in the corruption. It was like my signature. Proof that I was the one that had tainted his soul and that he now belonged to me.
I decided that this was a good time to stop. This was my first try and if I went any further I micht accidentally rip apart his mind. Judging from the humans that I spotted in hell, it was absolute torture. Much like completely losing one's soul when still alive.
I did not like this man and I personally wouldn't have much against killing him. But I wouldn't torture just for the sake of torture. I had performed my little experiment and it was a success. So now I would just leave him be.
The man collapsed and I left the room. I would wait for him to wake up on his own and then get him out of here. Having a pawn in the upper class should be useful so I will not rush things and let him stabilise a little.
I checked up on rick to see if the bleeding had stopped by now. and to my relief, it had. The only thing was that his nose was actually broken. So, I let him go to a healer nearby. Hakim went with him to make sure that he wouldn't trip, because he was dizzy due to the blood loss.
After some time, I could hear faint sounds coming from the room in which the man resided. I immediately returned to see his state.
On the outside he looked still the same. But the corruption, especially the places where it wrapped around his soul was a lot more refined than when I left him.
"Hello there human. did you have a good sleep?"
He did not respond and blankly stared into the distance. I was a bit disappointed. ("Did I do anything wrong?")
But then he slowly shook his head. I was relieved that I didn't accidentally made him mindless.
"Well then. I have good news for you. I will let you go back to where you live and you can live your life how you always did before, just make sure that you treat people like people. If not, we micht play again, how does that sound? Oh, I would also appreciate it if you helped these six out so now and then. Now go or I will chase after you."
