Chapter 80 - CHAPTER 79: escaping an encounter

After we left, I went to check on Rick, Noah, Beatrice, Quinte and Hakim. I was pleasantly surprised that Hakim had met a girl his age called Sarah who was now also living in their mansion. She was scared when she first saw me but was set at ease by Hakim. they had done no mayor things besides that to my bitter disappointment. But I made sure that they would not t notice that. Afterall how would you react if the reason that you were alive at all was disappointed in you.

I just asked them to see if they could find any information about the situation with the demons in the east. It would be most useful if I was up to date about the rumours and information leaks.

Yes, the leaders had it under control for now, but who knew how long that would last? If the demonic forces drastically increase in a short period of time than they can decide to attack the stone city before we can lounge a counterattack.

The dwarf had decided to go home and check on the exhausted man while I headed to where the Gert, Allenya, Elisa, Yohan and Alex were staying

When I arrived at the place, I was immediately wondering why they were still staying together. When I travelled with them, I assumed that it was because they had the same destination and just got attached to each other. But now they lived in the stone city, so there would be no need for them to still be this close together.

When I entered the building, I was immediately jumped by a sobbing Alex.

Confused I looked over at Allenya who was trying to get Elisa to play a game with her, while Elisa was reading a book.

Elisa looked up for a moment and silently waved when she noticed that I was I the room.

Allenya sighed. "His girlfriend dumped him yesterday and he has been crying nonstop."

Yohan who was drinking coffee in a comfy chair in the corner of the room gave a faint smile. "Just let him be. He will get over it eventually."

"That's fine and all but I don't want snot all over my shirt." I replied while I pushed Alex away from me. "By the way. Where is Gert?"

"Oh, he is working right now. he will be back at noon." Allenya who was desperately trying to cure her boredom answered.

"Then what job does he have?"

She scratched her neck wile she was looking through her memories.

"I think he guards the side gate right now. he often guards different places."

"Yea that fits him. I just hope he does a better job than the guards who I met."

She tilted her head with a questioning look at her face. "What do you mean by that?"

"Nothing. It's just that I don't really think highly of guards anymore."

I yawned and stretched my wings in the prosses. What cased me to nearly knock a vase from the shelf.

"Wait, you are tired?!"Allenya exclaimed in shock.

"Yes? I mean, I just came back from that trip and I had to stay alert the entire time, or those idiots would have tried to see what material penetrated my scales the best. And the weeks before that I also didn't sleep. I guess I just reached my limit."

"they were such assholes? Tell me who do u have to beat up?"

I chuckled when I saw how she was ready attack a few people, despite knowing that they were specifically asked to kill an Oni.

However, I had to stop her before she reached for her daggers.

"No, it's not that bad. They were just annoying that's all. Besides, they stopped after I… let's say beat up some people who tried to rob us.

She sat back on her chair. Still a little hyped up and clearly struggling not to run through the entire room like a little kid.

"Is everything else fine?" Yohan asked, looking at the dark blood stains on my shirt.

I nodded in response. I was glad to be with them again. but Yohan seemed to often ask if I was doing fine or not. I could not help but think back at what happened at the dragon lake village.

Suddenly a loud knocking could be heard. I rolled my eyes for I had already recognised the scent.

Elisa immediately put her book down an made her way to the door.

("So, he had already planned that they would meet up now?")

"Is there I place where I can sleep?" I asked slightly irritated. Under normal circumstances I would have talked with them a little longer, but I didn't want to meet the elf Nathan right now.

Allenya stood up and grabbed me by my hand. "Yes. We still have an empty room. Let me show you."

She dragged me through the hallway until we reached a room that wasn't fully decorated. I thanked her and went to bed. Relieved that I had escaped a confrontation with Nathan just in time.
