The oni roared when Yorimitsu dashed towards him with his sword ready. He swung his blade to the left side of the face of the Oni.
Shuten Doji wasn't fast enough to doge the attack completely and was hit on his shoulder. He cried out in pain before he flung his massive fist at Yorimitsu, but only hit the helmet.
I wasn't sure if I did or did not hear a crack when his fist met the cold steel of the helmet.
He tried to move away but was hindered by the sword in his shoulder.
Raiko slashed at the side of the Oni. The steel pierced the flesh of the oni and made blood flow out that resembled my skin colour.
The Oni struggled and managed to free himself from the blades that held him down. In one smooth yet gaotic way , he jumped at me and managed to throw me and himself out of the window.
We hit the ground after a few seconds of free fall. I landed on my back and was almost certain that one of my wings broke. But I didn't have time to check at the moment. because even when we crashed on the ground he still tried to fight for his life.
We rolled further and further down the mountain dogging each other's attack while trying to land a hit.
I managed to give him some scratches because of the still slightly drunken state of Shuten Doji. But it was slowly starting to fade. It wouldn't take long before he would be at full power again.
If that were to happen before I injured him enough to count as a new hindrance for his power, it would be really troublesome for me.
while I was supposed to be stronger than him due to my demonic nature, he had lived for decennia longer than me and had thus learned to use his power more efficiently.
If he regained his former dexterity and precision, it would end up in a battle between brute force and skill.
I wasn't quick enough, and he managed to hit me in the face while we were yet again falling from a cliff.
We reached the foot of the mountain like this. Both with broken bones and scratches all over our body's. He crawled up and started to walk towards me with a disgusting wide grin on his face, baring is slightly yellow teeth.
"You fought quite well for a human."
I also stood up. I groaned in pain due to that sudden movement. My cloak was torn in many places. Some tears were from the claws of the Oni while the most were from the branches and rocks, I met on my rough descent.
The cloak wouldn't give me much of a disguise anymore and I needed most of my energy to finish the job.
The illusion faded away like dust blown away by a swift breath.
Shuten Doji looked confused with a slight hint of fear that he quickly brushed off as he, with all the force he could muster, sprinted towards me trying to land a finishing blow.
I could barely doge in my sorry state and could only move a little to the side so that I wouldn't be hit in a fatal spot.
He ended up hitting me on my left side. I roared in pain once the blow connected. A puddle of dark blood formed under my feet and expanded drip by drip.
I was furious. how dared this Oni hurt me to this extend?
I scratched his face, leaving a deep bloody cut were my claws had met his red skin.
He responded with a spring back click and a quick combination of a cross, hook, and a jab.
I avoided the first three, but the last one was inevitable.
He hit me once again in the face. But it did not do as much damage as I thought it would do.
The Oni realised to late that due to his continuous attacks, he was now perfectly in my reach.
Before the Oni had the chance to back down from the attack to prepare another, I let my claws sink deep into the flesh of his back. And as he backed own it tore his back only further open.
He left a trail of blood behind while he was panting due to the toll this fight took on his body. But I had yet to use one of my most fatal attacks by my judgment.
I spit out a wave of bright glowing flames and used the little magic that I had left to control them and send them in the direction of the Oni.
He had no longer the option to move away as my flames surrounded him and eventually swallowed him up. He screamed in pure agony as the flamed consumed his already torn flesh.
When the flames died down, I realised that the Oni, despite the massive irreversible damage, was still alive.
He was laying on the scorched grass unable to move. Slowly I stumbled towards him. I grabbed him by his head to lift him up until he was at my hight again.
His barely open eyes were filled with terror due to the fear of approaching death.
He tried to struggle, to escape this death. But he no longer had the strength.
Even in the immense pain I was in at the moment, I managed to creak a gentle smile.
Then I ripped out his throat with my teeth. His skin was a lot thinner than what I had expected, and I could easily penetrate through. His warm blood filled my mouth and dripped on the ground. Creating only more puddles of the same deep red.
The Oni let one last shrill shriek before leaving the world of the living.
