Chapter 1 - Hospital room

She wasn't opening her eyes and that's what he was worried about. The doctor said she should wake up in few hours. It was his fault, all of this was his fault. He is never careful enough. Only thought that was revolving in his head was why didn't he see the truck coming? Why didn't he hear her voice? And where was his quick thinking when he needed them? It was like his feets were frozen, like something held him down and not allowing him to move. He wasn't fast, till the time he reached by her side she had lost too much blood, people had started gathering around her. He gently stroked her hair as he recalled what had happened, he hated that memory and he hated himself more for what had happened.

"Why did you pushed me out of the way? it should have been me." he gently whispered in her ears.

She was there when the truck had appeared around the corner. He was talking to someone on the phone while crossing the road and out of nowhere the truck appeared. It was like the time had stopped or the earth had stopped spinning, he was frozen in his tracks. He wasn't able to move, doctors told him it might have been because of a sudden shock but this cannot excuse what had happened. And just like the truck she came  out of nowhere and pushed him aside. Now she is here lying on the hospital bed. She had to go blood transfusion, her injury was severe and it was all because of him.

He has been by her side ever since doctor said her vitals were stable. It has been a day since the accident. her body looked pale if it was possible to look anymore pale. Her long lush brown hair were neatly done in a braid. his mind kept playing the accident scene and he didn't even noticed when he had fall asleep.

It was her sweet voice that had made him open his eyes. Her dark onyx eyes stared in his grey eyes. it looked like both had lost their thoughts after looking into each others eyes. he could sense that she wanted to say something but words were lost on her lips. After few moments of  gazing into each other eyes she composed herself. As she flickered her gaze around the room she was in, she could still sense his eyes at her like a hawk. He didn't want to remove his eyes off her, it was as, if he removed his eyes off her she would vanish in thin air. She noticed she was in a hospital room and it looked like a VIP room. She coughed to get his attention but it didn't have the desired effect. So she snapped her fingers in front of him and that immediately caught his attention. She then motioned him to bring her some water to which he happily obliged. as she drank the water she could still feel his gaze she ignored it and gulped a sip and asked

"Who are you? and where am i? i am supposed to be in seattle. "

" Don't you remember anything that happened?" he asked in low voice. " I will answer all your questions but let me get the doctor first"

He quitted the door after saying that. She was having a hard time adjusting her eyes to the lights. and her back ached along with the rest of her body. She glanced around the room and her eyes fell on calendar she noticed it was august. Now she was highly confused.

"Wasn't it supposed to be July." she muttered to herself quietly. If her head was pounding earlier now she didn't even had any words to explain the pain that her head was in. 2 years had passed. Was she in coma for 2 years? What had happened? And who was that man? She wanted answers, she wanted to get up from the bed but her body was refusing her every attempt. A second or two later she decided it was fruitless to try. So she sat there on her bed quietly.

Soon footsteps were heard by the door and a man who had talked to her came in along with a middle-aged man in a white coat. She assumed he was the doctor. Soon the doctor started checking her vitals, pulse and some other stuffs. she wanted to ask him so badly about the questions she had earlier but she kept quite. There was a tension in the room. She noticed the grey eyed guy was  carefully watching  her moves. There was something about this guy, a feeling something which was almost incomprehensible, like she should  known him. Finally when the doctor was done he said,

" There is nothing to worry. Her vitals are stable along with the rest of the stuffs."

"Doctor for how many years was I in coma?" she asked. Though she thought she knew the answer it wouldn't hurt to ask it once more.

"What are you saying dear? you weren't in coma. you were brought here yesterday after the truck accident."

"It can't be possible. I remember I was supposed to be in seattle. Two years have passed. TWO YEARS!!"she shouted.

At that  moment a knock interrupted her from saying anything further. A man dressed in blue came with an envelope and passed it to doctor. He then nodded to the doctor as well as the man and left the room.

The doctor studied the paper in the envelope, it looked like a scan or something. and after he was done he kept the paper on the table and turned to the man and motioned him to sit  down and then slowly turned to face me.

"Mam we had your brain scans done" he started saying in a low voice  " and it seems that you are going through a memory loss. It is common. But it seems you have lost two years of your memory. you may remember it later as you start healing....."

His voice seemed to stop in her mind . Someone was saying something, but it seemed like it was in the back of her mind, she wasn't able to comprehend anything. The only thought in her head was that she had lost her 2 years of memory. and somehow she wasn't simply able to comprehend what was happening. words fell deaf on her ears.

He started getting worried about her. She wasn't listening to the doctor. He could see it. It was all too much for her and all this happened simply because he could not take care of himself. He stood to go by her side. And that moment she fell back on the bed unconscious.
