Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Once I was out, a man with blonde hair and green eyes approached me. "Hey there, little witch! Y'know, you'd actually be pretty cute if you weren't so disgusting on the inside." He said, a bin grin plastered onto his face. I already had a bad feeling about him, so I proceeded with caution. "Excuse me," I said, trying to be polite as I started walking past him. Next thing I knew, there was an arm blocking my way. "Hey, hey. Y'know it's pretty rude to do that to someone who's clearly above you. Since I'm such a gentleman, I'll excuse it today. Though if you do something rude to me again, I'll be sure to teach you some manners, okay, little girl?" The man said, grinning and getting a bit too close for comfort.

"Could you please let the new member of my team pass, Major Damien?" Loid said to Damien. Damien chuckled and turned around to face Loid. "You, a Vanderson, are harboring another witch. How disgraceful. Didn't you learn at all from all the history your family had gone through with witches? Have you forgotten the reason why your family was arrested and killed?! Come on, man, you've gotta be kiddin' me! You, you of all people! The one last person in your family that carries that wretched curse, and you let a witch into your squad! HAHAHAHA!!!!" Damien said laughing hysterically. I started walking past Damien and he grabbed my arm.

"Well then, I'll just have to teach her the way things go around here. Unless you want to sub in for her, Loid?" Damien said, his grin somehow getting even wider. "Tch, fine. Melody, I'll be in Room 957, okay?" Loid said, turning around and walking away. "Okay," I said, realizing that I'll be having a much harder time in their army than I thought. I ripped my arm away from Damien and backed up, ready to fight. "Wow, what a little b**ch! You really think you'll be able to beat me, little girl? Sure then, I guess Loid will have to find a backup ace because you're about to die!" Damien said, swinging his sword at me. I dodged it, and then I had an idea. I tried to make a sword of my own out of magic, and it worked. I swung it at Damien and he dodged it, of course, but then I used a blasting type of magic that I was taught a long time ago.

It caught Damien off-guard and I got a direct hit. He flew and crashed into a wall and got knocked unconscious because of that. I heard footsteps coming this way and got a bit scared so I hid in a corner of the hall. There were three soldiers, including Loid. They saw what happened and then I saw Loid's eyes light up. He seemed... very scared. "Magic was used here, though I don't know what type of magic," Loid said, covering his eyes. Also, whoever did it is hiding over there!" Loid said, pointing at me. My stomach dropped as the soldiers took out their swords and approached me. I forgot that my magic glows, even though it's purple. I made a blanket of my magic and covered myself with it. A guard grabbed the blanket and that's when I freaked out. I knew I couldn't run because that'd incriminate me further.

I tried to keep a hold of the blanket, but the soldier ripped it out of my hands and it dispersed. I was so scared that I was shaking, and I think the soldiers felt bad for me. "Um... are you okay, ma'am?" One of the soldiers said, reaching out a hand to help me up. "Bro, she a witch! We have to be careful!" Another soldier said, grabbing the first soldier's hand. "She's still a girl, though. We treat girls with respect. You guys can go back to your posts, I got this." The first soldier replied, brushing the hand off of his arm. "T-Thank you, sir," I said, taking his hand and getting up. "I'm Alexander Barron, but you can call me Alex, nice to meet you. What's your name?" Alex said. "U-Um, my name's Melody. It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Barron." I said, looking up at him.

He had hazel eyes. "Woah, you're way too formal with me. Sure, I'm a captain, but I'm only twenty-one." Alex said, chuckling a bit. "Oh, I'm sorry. Actually, I'm eighteen so I'm actually close to your age." I said, surprised at how young he is. "Wait, what?! You're eighteen? I thought you were like, sixteen. Well, it's good to know that you're legal." He said, smiling to himself. "Wait... what?" I said, not knowing what "legal" implies. "Oh, nothing, I was just talking to myself," Alex said. "Ahem. Could you give me my new recruit?" Loid said, pointing at me. "O-Oh, I'm very sorry!" I said, worried that he'd get mad at me. "It's fine. Just don't use your magic unless told to do so, understood?" Loid said, starting to walk away. "Y-Yes, sir!" I said, running to catch up to him. He walked into room 957 and sat in a fancy chair on one side of a desk. He beckoned me to sit on the other side. I did.

"I-I'm really sorry for getting off-task and talking to that guy instead of coming here, a-and I'm really sorry for d-doing that to Major Damien," I said, feeling really bad. "It's okay, really. I'm just surprised that you beat him just like that. It's kinda like that women's magic." Loid said, clearly suspicious of me. "O-Oh, I... I might just have similar magic, that's all." I said, getting really nervous. "Anyways, get some sleep. I would let you meet the rest of the team, but we have a mission so we can't. You have to sleep here because the Major, the guy you beat up, said so. I have some blankets under that table for you. Rest up and I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight." Loid said, pointing to a table as he left the room. I looked under the table to see that he set up a place for me to sleep under there. There was a really big table with 20 chairs around it in the middle of the room where we sat, but this one only has one chair. I crawled under the table, wrapped myself in the blankets, and slept.
