Chapter 1 - Prologue

That day couldn't get worse for her.

Siraye was holding still, while one of her elf servants was making her hair as pretty as posible for the winter royal ball. Her crimson straight hair were braided on the top with lovely navy blue ribbons and decorated with sapphires.

She rolled her eyes and groaned. " Liah, are you done yet? " she said shaprly. The servant Liad smiled and looked Siraye through the big mirror.

" Just a few more ribbons and I am done, my princess. " Liah said. Siraye sighed.

She saw her beatiful dark blue gown - it had golden embroidery of a dead forest in the end of her gown's skirt. As the only princess, and successor of the kingdom, Siraye wore a lot of jewelry.

Liah was done with her hair, and Siraye looked like a decent queen for the Kaphanea Kingdom. The servant elf putt her silver tiara - it was decorated with tiny sapphires and a big blue spinel. Siraye admired herseld infront of the huge mirror, which had frames gouged into magical golden vines all round it.

Siraye left her chambers, the door of which was guarded by royal guards to provide the safety of the princess. Her velvet cloak floated in the air, as she walked through the long corridors. Before the beginning of the ball, she had to talk to her father, Great King of Kaphanea, first. She needed to be sure that this upcomming ball wasn't a way to find her a husband, and a king for the kingdom. As the only child of the king, Siraye would be the successor of the throne. But, there is always a 'but'. The High Court did not agree to have a woman for a ruler. So, necessarily, Siraye must get married to a prince to be a decent sovereign.

She never agreed that she would get married. Ignoring the High Court, Siraye wants to become the sole ruler of her kingdom, without having a husband, who will automatically crowned king and become the first head of Kaphanea. With or without High Court approval, she will become the queen of Kaphanea and rule her nation just as good as a king would do.
