"You helped the others escape the mythological creatures and the humans?" Erin asked in more of a question because she found it unbelievable that somebody so evil could do something so selfless. But her mind shifted as she realized that she had been shafted more of the story. "Wait? What happened to you? He had you. How did you escape. Obviously I know you escaped, because you're here and not well, dead?"
Elizabet took in a deep breath and spoke,"he did." A few tears fell down her cheek as she recalled. She didn't recall everything that happened to her, she had blacked out for much of his abuse. She did recall when she had 'woken up' and the state of her body. "He tortured me. However, I blacked out when Hattie had rescued me, you'll have to ask Hattie how she saved me from him. I only remember waking up in her care. My body torn and broken. It had taken me months to fully recover. Hattie once said that he abused me because he felt betrayed by me. I don't know if I really believe that as he is a heartless beast, a monster."
"You don't know how you escaped? You never asked?"
Elizabet snorted and shrugged her shoulders. "Correct, because I didn't do it myself. Hattie saved me and I never really bothered to ask for the specifics. I was glad to be free." Elizabet responded trying to be unbothered by the line of questioning.
Erin stared at the woman opposite of her. She thought about the demon and it all seemed...surreal. However, she turned her attention from her escape to her selfless act. "You were selfless by helping those people. I mean, isn't that out of character for you?"
"I have never claimed to be perfect. I have made mistakes, many many mistakes. Especially in the beginning, but with Hattie and with this coven I found redemption. I still make errors, again i'm not perfect, but I try to be good."
"But your not. You took my life from me. You took my family from me." Erin retorted as she felt the anger boiling in her chest.
"Yes." Elizabet paused and she looked at the girl and her resolve broke, she couldn't do it anymore. She hated the feeling of being despised. What she had to say may scare the girl away but she had to tell her now. "I did that to save your family and friends. Because the alternative would have been so much worse and far more bloody."
"You are not making any sense, no f-ing sense!!" Erin shouted frustrated. "Why do you have to be evil?" Erin was surprised when she saw tears streaming down the succubus' face.
"I am not evil. Maybe I was in the beginning, but that isn't me anymore. If we didn't remove you from your family and friends, he would have chased after them. You know from the previous stories what he is capable of and he truly is a terrifying creature. A Wendigo that survives on the pain of others. He would have captured, tortured, and eventually killed them to get to you, to destroy this coven. You are more powerful than you know."
"I don't understand!?"
"Okay, let me spell it out more clearly for you. You aren't exactly human." She could see Erin getting ready to interrupt her and she held out her hand, "please let me finish. You are not human, you are like us, sort of, a mythological creature. When we figured that out, we had to bring you into the fold, otherwise you would have been killed by him. Not just you, but your family too. We took you from your family's memories to protect them."
"Wait, so that means that they would be mythological beings too, why didn't they tell me?"
Elizabet shook her head, "No, just you, somewhere in your line a mythological being married into your human family. They don't know what you are."
"Can't he still torture them, will he still try to hunt and hurt them?"
"No, because he doesn't even know about them. You have been completely taken out of the equation."
Erin looked at Elizabet the realization dawning on her, "why didn't you tell me this earlier?" Erin stopped, she wouldn't have been as angry, right? She wouldn't have spent so much time hating Elizabet. She wouldn't have been painting Elizabet as the villain.
"Because I was trying to protect you. Because now you are just as visible as the rest of us. I wanted to wait to tell you after you joined the coven and had our shared protection." Elizabet hung her head.
"I'm sorry to have said such terrible things about you. Tell me the rest please."
Elizabet provided a half cocked smile, but the tears and sadness in her eyes gave her away. "That is Hattie's story to tell."
Erin furrowed her brows, "you're the second to tell me that, why?"
"Because."
