Chapter 116 - The demon (part 2)

All good things come to an end, they must and it was particularly true for demons. In hindsight Elizabet should have realized something bad was going to happen. But, she was caught up in the moment. She was in love with the camaraderie she had towards the other women of pleasure.

Elizabet was eating well, she had comfortable accommodations, and she had friends and family. In her mind, what could possibly go wrong?

In the early winter morning Elizabet still lay in bed sleeping. She had after all just fell asleep a few hours ago and it would still be hours before she would have to wake up. Her sleep began easily enough, but as the morning wore on it became more disruptive.

Again, in hindsight it was probably because of what would happen next. Her mind and body were protecting her in away...if only she had listened earlier.

Elizabet tossed and turned and then began to cough.

*Cough

*Cough

*Cough

Elizabet shot up, sitting up quickly as she continued to cough. She looked around her and her room was filled with smoke. She grabbed a blanket and covered her nose and mouth in order to protect herself. She crossed the room and reached for the door handle only to cry out in pain. As her fingers made contact with the metal knob, it was hotter than she was expecting. Elizabet looked at the bottom of the door and could see flames on the other side creating a disturbing effect.

Elizabet bit her lip and looked around her, she tentatively reached for the red hot door knob in another attempt to open the door. However, even through the fabric, she was unable to do so. Flames had completely blocked her path.

Her heart began to race and her mind was spinning. She glanced around the room and her eyes landed on the window. She quickly crossed the room and lifted up the wooden window as it slowly creaked opened and the fresh air entered the room the fire became larger. With the oxygen, the fire became uncontrollable and inched closer. Even though the flames were still a good distance away, Elizabet could feel the heat upon her flesh.

Elizabet took one last look at the room before she crawled out the window. She stood on the roof and looked to the left and right of her. There had to be a easier way down than just jumping from two stories up. However, with the quickly approaching fire her options were dwindling faster than she would have liked. She knelt down, held onto the side (putting her feet closer to the ground than just jumping) and then released her fingers to fall to the dirt ground below. She was glad the ground was not frozen yet, otherwise the fall would have been far more painful.

Elizabet stood up and the flames were reflected in her eyes. She gulped and for the first time in her life she was concerned about her human sisters, did they make it out safely? She began to walk around the house hoping the women also made it out of the house, their home.

The demon was sad as she watched her home go up in flames. But as long as her sisters were okay, she would be happy. They could rebuild!

Elizabet wandered and eventually found a group of women. From the distance she counted and her heart was pleased when she found they had all made it out safely with nothing but their clothes on their backs. The would rebuild, she told herself again.

Elizabet called out and waved her hands towards the group. "Are you all safe?"

The group of women turned and ran over to her. Elizabet smiled, beyond happy. Her eyes quickly performed an assessment and it looked like they had all made it out safely with no wounds.

Elizabet walked over to the 'leader' of the group, "Rhea, I am so happy." Hugging the woman in the process.

Rhea wrapped her hands around Elizabet, hugging her back.

The smile that was plastered on Elizabet's face quickly diminished and she stepped away. The pain began to form in her back. Elizabet looked at Rhea's hand and the bloody knife she held, that had been used to stab Elizabet in the back.

"Rhea? What?" Elizabet stuttered unable to fully comprehend what had happened. She had been stabbed literally and figuratively in the back and her mind was cracking, "I thought we were sisters?" While the pain in her back was difficult to bare with, her rising anger was eclipsing anything else she was feeling? "Why?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Rhea stated, her voice even. "You are a demon after all."

Elizabet furrowed her brows, "How did you find out? Does it really matter? I am still me, Elizabet your sister." Her voice was shaky as she pleaded with them.

"How can we be sisters with an evil demon?" As Rhea spoke the women approached her, brandishing weapons, "we thought if we set you on fire, that would kill you, but apparently there is still more to do."

Elizabet backed away and their faces of anger and disgust would be forever ingrained in her mind. Humans were bad. Elizabet ran to the nearby forest, hiding from the mob that was ready to kill her.
