Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Kirsten can't seem to forget the scene she saw earlier with Gero and his girlfriend. She was really shocked when she found out that Gero had a girlfriend already and he shared with them briefly on how they met.

If only he did not return to the Philippines. He would not have met Stephie and become his girlfriend. Wow! They only met a week ago and yet Stephie was able to get Gero's attention and become his girlfriend. It's so unfair, she waited for ten years but still, she failed.

They are at the dining table and are currently eating breakfast/lunch (brunch). They only have a table in the apartment for four people, so her older brother is on her left side, Gero is on her right side and Stephie is in front of her.

Stephie offered to cook for their meal.

"Is the food not delicious, Kirsten?" Stephie asked her worriedly, for she saw her stabbing the dish on her plate with a fork.

She immediately looks at her. "You're saying something?"

"You don't seem to have as much appetite, don't you like Caldereta?" Stephie asked her.

"Oh my, no. I mean you cooked well." she praises it.

It's really delicious. She was just sad because she also tried several times to learn how to cook it but she failed. She dreamed of cooking Caldereta for Gero after his return to the Philippines. This is because it is his most favorite food.

She became jealous of Stephie because she was not only beautiful and sweet, she cooks really well too.

"I really have no hope." She thought, which makes her even sadder.

"Don't worry Stephie, she's actually on a diet because the school year is near. But normally she eats anything, everything tastes good to her." Caleb said while teasing her.

"Caleb!" Kirsten replied like a child but he just laughed at her sister.

"Oh, I see. I actually cooked that because I knew it was Gero's favorite." and smile sweetly to Gero.

"I know right! I've been practicing it for years! It's jus that, it is really not my cup of tea." she wanted to say but opted to keep quite.

Kirsten sighed.

She looked at Gero while he was smiling at Stephie. Then he suddenly looked at her, she quickly bent down and started eating. She knew her cheek was red because he caught her looking at him.

"Did you know that our cook at home got so stressed because of Kirsten? Do you remember Mother Selma?" Caleb asked Gero.

"Yeah, what about her?" he asked curiously.

"Kirsten asked Nanay Selma to teach her how to cook Caldereta. But she really couldn't get it and so she threatened that she will fire her because she didn't know how to teach." and burst out laughing.

Stephie laughed as Gero just stared at her, unable to read his face.

Annoyed, she turned to her brother. "Caleb!"

"Because we don't understand why you just wanted to learn how to cook Caldereta, Nanay Selma suggested other dishes that are easier but you don't want to." Her older brother said in astonishment.

She coughed at the question, she was almost speechless. Gero gave her water and patted her back.

"Hey, easy," Gero said.

When she was okay she simply removed Gero's hand.

"Are you okay now?" he asked.

"I'm really sorry" she answered him without looking at him and then looked at Stephie. "The food is really great, I'm sure Gero is so proud to have you. You're not only beautiful Stephie but you are also a great cook," she said while smiling at her genuinely.

She was sincere in what she said to Gero's girlfriend. Even though it hurts her and she is jealous, she can't show it because Stephie seems to be a very nice person.

"It's really nice meeting you Stephie and thank you for the food." Then she looked at her brother. "I'll leave you first Caleb, I need to go somewhere today." She even pretended to look at her watch. "Gero, it's really nice to see you again," she said to him, she would have smiled at him but got nervous when she saw his reaction. It seems like he does not want her to go.

When she got up and walked towards her room she felt like he was looking behind her.

When she came out of the room, she noticed that there was no one in the dining area. But she hears people talking in the living room.

She fixed the clothes she was wearing first. She was wearing a blue dress. Even though the design of the dress at the top is a bit sexy, it still looks presentable.

She knew Maddy would be surprised. She will hang out with her for a few hours, she has no plans to torture her heart because of the presence of Gero and his girlfriend.

"And where do you think you're going?"

She was surprised when he suddenly appeared. It was obvious on his face that he did not like what she was wearing.

"Having a party with my friends" she casually replied with a sweet smile. She wanted to annoy him.

"If you're my sister, I will not allow you to go out wearing that dress. Don't you have any other dress that is more descent?" He asked.

She was insulted by his comment on what she was wearing.

"If only I am your sister Gero. But I'm not! And for the last time, never in a million years will I want to be your sister!"

He stared at her.

That again, she could not read anything on his face.

"I have to go."

She said goodbye to his brother and Stephie and promised to go home before 10:00 pm. She knew Gero was just behind her watching her every move.

She did not bother to say goodbye to him.

When she opened the door she was surprised because there was someone outside the door

"Are you looking for someone?"

"Hi, I'm Marco!" the man said while smiling at her. "I'm actually looking for my friend Gero. Is he there?"

"Yeah, just go inside," She replied and then walked out of the apartment.

He really wanted to lift Kirsten and just lock her in the bedroom. Thinking that she will be talking to other men wearing that dress makes him want to get rid of them.

I should not feel this way. God! I have a girlfriend next to me. But my mind seemed to be carried away by Kirsten when she left. When she said that she would never want to be my sister in a million years, it was as if a part of him was happy.

"Stop it, Gero! Don't you dare cross the line. She's like a sister to you." His mind screamed.

"I will never like her as a sister!" His heart cried.

"Shit!"

Caleb and Stephie looked at him, wondering.

"Are you okay honey?" Stephie asked.

"Yeah I'm fine, I just have a headache."

"Gero?"

"Mark? How did you get here?" Although Gero was happy to see him, he also wondered how his friend tracked down the apartment.

"Have a seat, Mark," Caleb said. "I was the one who invited him."

Mark and Gero shook hands. Then Mark sat on the other sofa, facing Gero and Stephie.

"By the way, Caleb, was that your sister a while ago?" Mark suddenly asked Caleb.

"Oh no! Not you, Marco." Gero thought.

"Did she open the door for you earlier?" Caleb asked.

"Yeah." His smile reaches his ears. "You have a very pretty sister dude, is she still single?" Mark asked curiously.

"She's off-limits Mark!" Gero answered Mark right away.

Caleb coughed.

"Actually our parents are not strict about those things. We also have a lot of confidence in Kirsten. So it's up to her whether she wants to have a boyfriend or not." Caleb explains.

He wanted to twist around his friend's neck. Kirsten is only sixteen for crying out loud!

"Don't listen to him Mark, not Kirsten, please. I know you too well dude. I don't think she's ready for someone like you." Gero tried to calm his voice.

"People change Gero and it's up to Kirsten to decide if she will like me or not," Mark answered seriously.

"Do you want a snack?" Stephie asked, to break the tension. She does not know why but there seems to be growing tension from Mark and Gero, especially Gero.

"Excuse me." and then walked straight to the terrace.

He knows that it will not just be Mark who will try to get Kirsten's.

To hell with them! She's only mine.
