Wayland looked over the list he had been given by Redus.
'As i haven't unlocked any magical abilities yet. i'll have to look into having a weapon so i don't end up to badly damaged when i fight. I was a Monk class last time, so i might do gauntlets or maybe daggers.' Wayland thought as he went through his memories, he always used a staff to keep enemies at bay.
"Well if i'm going to be a more 'boo here i am in your face type' i'll need to boost my strength, defense, and agility." Wayland spoke out loud.
"Yip." Gileon barked, appearing on his new master's heels. 'Where?'
"Oh, we need to head to Magical Spells 101, then it'll be lunch time, after which is Combat Introduction, free time where we can figure out our next move, then History 101 and finally whatever extra course we decide." Wayland explained. 'Maybe he doesn't understand what classes are. I mean coming from the Void and all.'
"Yip yip" Gileon barked at him. 'Magic training, food, fighting, play time, then past?'
"Maybe you are smarter than i thought." Wayland told his new companion. "Now we can't have companions until we are told we can. So you'll have to keep hidden until then, is that a problem?"
'Yip? yip, bark.' Gileon asked. 'Hide? Hide ring.'
"Ring?" Wayland asked, suddenly Gileon jumped to his hand and shifted into a ring on his middle finger.
"Yeah that seems good." Wayland told Gileon, rubbing the ring. The ring vibrated from the touch.
Upon entering Magical Spells 101, Wayland was met with a force that felt like he would freeze from the inside out.
"Ah, Mr. Wayland. You joined us just in time. I was just explaining how to avoid being frozen by a
The instructor was a high elf, they are known for their massive amount of mana. Yet their physical traits were under sub-par.
Wayland nodded to the instructor and headed to a seat next to Pricusla who nodded to him then focused back to the instructor.
"For those that spoke out of turn, i'll re-introduce myself. My name is Terst, a high elf from the Forest of Dewonic. Many elves live there, including wood elves to the south, dark elves underground, ice elves to the north, and high elves to the east. The west is more of a wild area that we let flourish." Terst informed them, after Wayland sat down.
"Now, basic magic is mana being brought forward through mental means. So studying is important, but remember it's always smart to have a back-up plan. So we'll be learning about magical items. Magical items are items that have been imbued with magic that can last a certain time or hibernate until another owner is found which then the items slowly adjust to the new owner's mana levels. Can anyone describe a magical item to me?" Terst asked to the class.
Wayland knew of several, many on Terst, but remained quiet so that he would not draw attention to himself further. He knew his episode with the magical stone was already around the Academy.
Suddenly a hand shot up from the front, it belonged to a lizardman.
"One magical item could be a plain ring that buffs a persons mana levels or resistance to damage." the lizardman informed Terst.
Terst nodded in agreement, "Very good description Mr...?"
"Trusga of the Green Marsh." Trusga introduced himself.
Wayland looked over at Trusga. It was true that Trusga knew a little magic, but wasn't he in Stealth the first time he came through.
Suddenly a flash of what the voices had said came back, 'Nothing is written in stone.'
So if Trusga was here then were would everyone else be?
'Analyze'
A red cloak covered Trusga as Wayland started to analyze him.
Subject: Trusga Race: Lizardfolk Class: Battle-mage Level: 1 (20/100) Health: 30/30 Stamina: 25/25 Mana: 20/20 Stats: Strength: 6 Defense: 5 Charisma: 4 Intelligence: 5 Agility: 5 Dexterity: 5 Skills: Power-up (Passive) Level 1 (2/10) Flash step Level 1 (1/10) Stone Hide Level 1 (4/10) Tar shot Level 1 (3/10)> ' I wonder how many times it takes using an ability to level it up?' Wayland thought to himself. *Ding* 'So to increase a skill in level i have to complete it 1000 times' Wayland thought pondering what he had to work with. 'Open Skills' Wayland thought. *Ding* Current Activated Skills: Analyze: Level 1 (1/10) Heightened Awareness (Passive): Level 1 (1/10) Shadow Bind: Level 1 (0/10) Locked Skills: Shadow Summon: locked until Level 3 Shadow Revive: locked until Level 3. Shadow Command: locked until Level 5.> 'Infromation: Skill Shadow Bind.' Wayland thought, wondering if the screen would do as he asked. Skill: Shadow Bind, the shadow of the opponent will hold them in one place after the caster has touched their shadow. The caster must touch the opponent's shadow to bind them to one spot. Active for 5 seconds, Cooldown 45 seconds.> 'That could have been helpful in a few situations.' Wayland thought, remembering a few battles in which this could have helped. "And that will be all today. Remember, tomorrow we'll be showing a simple spell each." Terst informed the class. "Mr. Wayland, wait a moment." Wayland stopped at the door curious to what the instructor could want. Pricusla hesitated for a second, but Wayland waved her on. Showing that he would meet up with her. "Yes Mr. Trest?" Wayland asked, confused as to why he had been singled out. "One moment, "If you are wondering what i just did, i just froze time for a few moments. I would like to talk to you about your Affinity. Also, you may use certain spells in my classroom." Terst told him with a slight knowing smile. "Although i suggest you don't try to cheat or cause disruption with them. I was watching your testing earlier. It appears you have a Void affinity. You know that the Void is a dangerous place to have an affinity for. Yes it might offer you power beyond imagination, but at what cost? So be careful when treading in the dark, you never know what might be lurking there." Terst warned him, before snapping his fingers breaking the time spell. "I will, thank you sir." Wayland told him with a respectful tone. "One other thing." Terst started as Wayland was heading out of the classroom. "Yes sir?" Wayland asked, almost afraid of what he might want to say. "You have a lovely little pet there. I would suggest Magical Creatures: Studying of Habits as an extra." Terst nodded to Gileon, who was still in ring form. "Thank you sir. I'll look into it." Wayland thanked him. 'Thank you sir.' Gileon thought spoke mimicking his master. "You are very welcome little one, take care of your master." Terst told the Void Pup. His lunch unentertaining other than Pricusla asking what Mr. Trest wanted. After explaining what the instructor wanted, the started to form a battle plan for the bout with Druien. After lunch Wayland and Pricusla was anxious for Combat Class. This class was held outside in a magically enhanced space so that any damage inside or weather outside would be nulled. From what Wayland could remember Combat Class was headed by Ms. Kalim. An impressively built woman rumors was that she was a Demi-human. Her father had been a battle crazed dragonkin and her mother was human warrior of some renown. Although all those claims were put to bed as her true nature was revealed to be an Amazoness Warrior Trainer. Having trained thousands of whimpering pukes into iron-willed warriors. Her biggest challenge was not letting the pukes destroy one another. Really, this class was about as boring as negotiations with the elves of Dewonic. At least the Dwarves from Grafer Hall had a party with barrels of alcohol and mounds of food when hashing out treaties. Still, this day topped all of her days at this school where she was assigned by the Queen of the Amazons. "Welcome to Combat Class, maggots. My name is Kalim or ma'am. Before you ask, no i am not a Demi-human. I am an Amazon, a warrior sect deep in the jungles of Weiseran." Kalim informed the class as the stood there. "Am i understood?" " Ma'am, yes, ma'am!" the the 1st year class shouted. The rest of the groups of students stood waiting to be dismissed to normal practices. "Butch." Wayland whispered to himself. The first year class snickered, the rest of the years held their breath. Each class had that one student that had to say something about the combat teacher. Kalim's ear twitched as she heard this remark. "You with the smart attitude, step forward." Kalim commanded with every ounce of authority that a hardened general that had fought over hundreds of battles voiced. Wayland stepped forward out of the line of first years. "What did you say boy?" Kalim asked accusingly, eyeing him with a tactical stare. "I said that you were really muscled for a lady from Weiseran." Wayland explained, smirking slightly. "It sounds like you need to learn some manners. We'll start with 50 push ups and 50 sit ups. After that, i will choose a person for you to have a bout with. Unless we have any volunteers?" Kalim asked looking around at the students. Druien stepped forward, "I volunteer for battle ma'am." Pricusla also stepped forward, "As do i." Kalim nodded to the two before separating the class into what catergories they had been given. "The rest of you maggots, you know what to do." Kalim ordered the rest of the class as they disperesed into groups. Some doing hand to hand, others sparring with weapons. A few focused on defensive and strategy. As Wayland started with the exercises he had been assigned, he had to do this so he could finish his daily quest or suffer the penalty. What ever that might be. Kalim watched this upstart that had the gall to call her butch in front of all the school. As she watched the boy went from simple push ups to knuckle ups, he alternated his elbow swings to work each different part of his arms as he worked through the exercises. This boy, who had just set foot in this class. Trained as if he had been in countless battles and only wished to improve upon the warrior skills. Kalim had never been intrigued about anything other than fighting. This boy, her interest had been piqued, was a puzzle that needed to be figured out. Wayland was just about half way through his knuckle ups, when suddenly he started to feel even heavier. *Ding* A screen appeared in front of him. Heightened Awareness activated. Resisting Forced Gravity. Resistance Failed.> Wayland suddenly splayed out as the spell "What's wrong worm. Having trouble with the push ups?" Kalim asked in a sweet tone. "No ma'am. Just taking a break." Wayland informed her with a smirk, knowing she or someone she ordered to cast it. *Ding* The screen was replaced with another. Wayland smirked at Kalim, "I accept your challenge." Kalim eyed him with a critical eye, "Well then maggot, hop to." *Ding* Wayland forced himself up, working through the pain of having Kalim inwardly smiled, finally after all these years. A warrior actually had arrived to the Academy. She had cast a *Ding* Forced Gravity Level 2 applied. Rewards updated: +3 to Strength, +10 to Stamina, Resist Forced Gravity Level 2, 20 experience will be awarded.> "40 ma'am." Wayland gasped out as his body started to burn as if a river of lava was flowing through him. 10 more and he would be done, The timer on the screen had 5 minutes remaining. "Huh, aren't you ready to give up? What's so hard, a mage has no use being on the front lines of battle." Kalim needled at Wayland as he went through the push ups. "Grrr... Piss off, you wanna be Berserker." Wayland growled out as he finished his final push up, "50 ma'am." *Ding* Rewards: Strength +3 (8+1) , Stamina +10 (10/20), Resist Forced Gravity Level 2 accquired, 20 experience earned. Level update: Level 1 (45/100) Daily Quest updated: 1/1 kilometer ran 50/100 push ups 0/100 sit ups Time Remaining: 11 hours, 49 minutes, 33 seconds.> With that Wayland dropped onto the ground. Out of energy he just laid there, getting his wind back to start with the sit ups. Hoping that by doing this little bit of resting he could get a few points of Stamina back before he had to fight Druien, he was gonna need all he could get. "No rest for you maggot, you get to fight the volunteers with Forced Gravity on you. Into the sparring ring." Kalim ordered, this was a signal for all the students to assemble around the large dirt ring in the middle of the field. Wayland walked into the ring, Pricusla and Druien walked in from the other 2 sides. Kalim stood off to the side. "This will be a sparring session, that means no killing techniques. Maggot Wayland, you will be fighting with *Ding* Battle and win against the enemy with Forced Gravity applied. Forced Gravity Resistance removed for quest. Rewards: Agility +2, Intelligence +3, 20 experience. Time Limit: 5 minutes Urgent Quest: Survive against higher level enemy. Rewards: Defense +1, Health and Stamina +10, 35 experience. Time Limit: 5 minutes Do you accept?> "Do i have a choice? I accept these rules." Wayland asked the system, informing it of the rules of the quest. "No you don't, Good luck." Kalim replied, thinking she being questioned.
