TIN TON! He pressed the bell alarm.
After thinking of the promise he made to Joey,it didn't matter if he was having rough patches but he had to look out and promised himself that despite all odds,he must keep his promise.
Tin ton! He rang it again and this time the door clasp open. Mr Davidson opened the door.
Paschal was shocked at first. He didn't know what to say. Firstly, because he had run out of words for up to 10 months now and secondly, he didn't expect Davidson to open the door.
"Hm-mm" Davidson grunted in disgust.
"Good day sir. I came to see y'all" he stammered for words.
"Have ya forgotten so easily that the only thing bringing ya to my house was 'cos of Joey? Now she's dead!" He continued "...and ya can't be seen anywhere near here. Thanks for taking care of her!" He said sarcastically.
Paschal saw that coming but held his patience,he didn't have time for that now.
Just as everything was going on, Wilson saw them "allow him in Dave"
Davidson sighed and left the doorstep tiredly.
"Thanks bud" Paschal appreciated.
"You're welcome. Now what the heck are you doing here?" He asked.
"I...I...I just wanna pay a friendly visit" Paschal said.
"In this house?" Wilson grew wary.
"I know. I know Will but,I need to fulfill her promise" he said helplessly.
"Come" Wilson took him out to the back yard.
"...she told me to make a promise that if anything ever happens to her I should take care of her family" Paschal said. "I understand your commitment but trust me,you don't want to be seen around this house" Wilson said. "Will you've gotta help me make them understand" Paschal explained.
"Understand how? Who will? Is it Mariam who has turned wild after Joey's death or Chloe who's turned lost all of a sudden? Dude Joey's death affected everyone in this house, even me" Wilson explained.
"Yeah,me too. I became dead in my own house" Paschal knew Wilson had no idea. "But you still gotta help me" he said.
"How did you find out?" Wilson asked after some minutes. "I found a paper on the shelf which talked somewhat of commiting suicide. Dude, it took me a lot of time before I realized she'd be here" Paschal said. "You know,I feel guilty 'bout this whole thing. I saw her frantically go inside the house that day in tears but I taught I was day dreaming. You've gotta believe me man,I swear, I taught I was seeing things,my instinct kept urging me to go and search for her as I was cutting the grass,I swear with my life,I had to fight back the thoughts of seeing her crying" Wilson confessed.
"What, man? You saw her going inside the house that way and you didn't mind?" Paschal was amused.
"I minded. Don't get it wrong,I minded bro" he said.
"What do you mean you minded?" Paschal asked pissed.
"I told myself that if anybody except me also saw her in that shape,I'll be forced to go and look for her. But nobody else saw her. Of all the people that were in the house. And I concluded I was day dreaming" he concluded. Maybe Paschal would have done the same thing if he was in Wilson's shoes,he thought. But definitely seeing Joey crying would have done the trick.
"So,you were the one that saw my Joey last? Lucky you" Paschal said out of frustration.
"I wonder why she didn't love me" Wilson wondered.
Paschal let out a smile; "That's a discussion for another day. We've been at this backyard for over an hour now. Dude,I need to sit" he said.
It was then Wilson realized Mariam may be looking for him. "Oh! Yeah. That's right" and with that, they went back to their houses.
