It had been a week since Valerie went missing, the King already had his guards out and searching for Valerie, but was yet to succeed in finding her.
She had never come face to face with her kidnapper, as he would go into the room after she fell asleep and place food in the room. Yes, it was usually cold, but it kept Valerie alive so she never complained.
Once she had woken up while the person was in the room, she woke up to the sounds of slow footsteps approaching her. She was awake, but her eyes were closed, in fear that if the person knew Valerie knew who they were, they'd kill her off.
Once she heard a door open, close, and footsteps growing distant, she opened her eyes, and ate the food. It was hot and it made her happy, the closest to hot Valerie would ever get was lukewarm.
Today was different, she woke up to someone standing at her feet, watching her sleep. She was so startled she fell right off the bed and hit her head on the dresser beside the bed.
"Are you alright flower?" asked the person as they walked over to her.
"I- I'm fine" said Valerie as she curled up in a ball as a useless act to save herself.
"Don't be afraid my beautiful flower, no harm shall come to you. Nothing shall come to my flower except love." said the person as they sat down before her.
She was able to clearly see his face now, it was Chris. She partly knew that Chris had kidnapped her, because he was the last person she was around.
"Why.... why am I here Chris?" asked Valerie as she curled up some more, she didn't know the man very well so she didn't know what he was capable of.
Chris crawled over and sat by Valerie, and Valerie tried to go the other direction, but was stopped by the bed.
"Well, I love you, and you love me, you just don't see it yet. I know you will find that you love me, as long as your around no one but me" said Chris with an eerie smile.
"I do not love you, I love another, and nothing in the world shall make me love you." said Valerie as she gripped her chest.
She was testing if he'd get angry with her and hit her, yet he did not. He simply stood up, and left the room.
He was punishing Valerie, yet she didn't know it. She only got fed once a day and wasn't expecting anything else to eat, yet she was brought so much food, it could feed everyone at her old orphanage.
There was nothing for Valerie to do in that room but eat, so that is what she did. She ate and ate and ate until there was nothing left. The next day she was brought even more food then yesterday, and the next day even more, until she was as big as a castle.
Then she was only fed what she was fed when she first arrived to the place, nothing but one meal a day. It left her starving.
She couldn't figure out why he made her so big, only to take that amount of food away from her. Chris knew what he was doing, he knew she'd eat all the food and leave none behind, and then would be starving from the one meal a day she was eating.
Soon enough he started forcing himself on Valerie, she would resist with all of her strength so the farthest it went was them kissing.
This would leave Valerie in tears, causing her to be extra tired, so she started missing some of the times when Chris would visit her. He visited her early morning, before he went to the castle, and Valerie began sleeping in past his leaving time because of how she'd cry and waste energy in the morning.
Chris had been going to work late, but before that he had been going to work early, and now he was going to work early again.
This had Malphus question if something was wrong at home. As far as Malphus knew, Chris' family was killed in the massacre in Cliffered, which is now part of Riverdale.
Perhaps Chris had found himself a woman, no no. Maybe he adopted a child, no that's not right either.
Malphus wondered why he had been coming and leaving at such strange times. He'd come right in the middle of the King scolding the guards for not finding Valerie, and he'd give a sinister little smile every time. Malphud didn't mind it, he thought Chris just enjoyed seeing pain inflicted on others.
Now that Malphus thought about it, Chris had never liked to see pain inflicted on anyone. He hated it, he would always turn away when he saw some being yelled at, or physically being hurt. So why did he just smile when Valerie was brought into question.
Malphus gave his own iconic sinister smile, and continued working. 'I'm about to crack this case wide open, and destroy the shell' he looked over to Chris, who had his back turned 'All is fair in love and war my friend' thought Malphus as he then went back to focusing on what was on his desk.
