Chapter 7 - Just a 'little' conflict

Valerie walked in beside Oscar rather than latched to him just in case her royal friend happened to be there. He was gonna be there, wasn't he? He knows Valerie goes to culver academy. She remembers telling him. He invited her to a ball he knew she'd be attending anyway!

Valerie wasn't mad, she was rather happy his highness looked out for her in ways she didn't even look out for herself.

There Malphus was, sitting on his throne beside his parents. It looked like his parents forgot who the girl was and it'd only been 3 months since she visited the castle. She wasn't angry about that either, now she'd be able to put a good face on for the King and Queen.

Malphus send her a wink and she stuck out her tongue at him. She didn't want the girls of culver to know she had a close relationship with the prince. People knew he has a cold heart when people messed with things that belong to him. Not that she belonged to him, they were just friends.

After the school sent their thanks to the royals for hosting the ball, they were shown to the ballroom where there were tables on tables of food. Classic music was playing and everyone wanted to start dancing, but the prince had to choose a girl from culver to start off the dance.

This was it! This was when the prince was going to choose Ora to dance with and she'd woo him into liking her. Her plan was finally falling into place. That pest of an orphan would finally beg at her feet for mercy. She didn't even have enough bravery to come to the ball, she knew no one would want to take her and the prince might have just kicked her out of the castle.

Except when he came to Ora, she held her hand out to just have been pasted. If she had a brain she would have known the prince was looking at Valerie and that's where he was headed, to where Valerie was.

He picked Valerie. Valerie! Valerie was here?!? No, that can't be Valerie, she's far too pretty. She has a necklace and a crown that Ora isn't even able to afford. It is Valerie, she'd know those eyes anywhere. He had chosen Valerie over Ora, and once she realized it, she almost blew her top.

"Ahh, get away from my prince you ugly fat orphan bit-!"

"Excuse me, for bothering your.... scream feast, but I'd like to take my date back to the dance floor." The prince stopped the hothead before she blew, he didn't want to ruin his first dance with Valerie just because a spoiled brat didn't get what she wanted.

"Date? I'm sorry but I recall walking in with Valerie, not you." Oscar said in a friendly voice but the kind where you know you're in trouble

Valerie gulped softly, she knew something like this was going to happen, but for this event she blamed Ora. If Ora hadn't thrown a fit like a small child, Malphus wouldn't have said anything about her being his date, and they wouldn't have started a small fight.

Ok, so a not so small fight. 'I think Malphus just broke Oscar's nose, and Malphus' eye is black. Is no one going to stop them? Or is two cute guys fighting over a girl entertaining to them? Even the King and Queen are just watching this happened without a movement.'

"Stop! I did agree to be the prince's date to this ball a month ago, had I know this was the ball he wanted me to attend I wouldn't have walked in with you, Oscar."

The room went quiet, most people would think how and why the prince asked her to come to the school ball with him. Oscar gave Valerie a sweet look and gave the prince a nasty one and walked away.

Valerie lead the prince to his room and helped the maids clean him up. They didn't talk the whole time. Valerie was going to apologize, but only once they were alone.

"Malphus, I'm sorry, if I had known this was going to happen, I wouldn't have come to the ball at all."

Malphus gave her an unreadable look. Then he broke out in a warm smile.

"There is no such thing as 'pretty and pure' in this world. And if there is it is taken quicker than you can say 'I'."

In the blink of an eye, Valerie was in Malphus' embrace. With a hand on her waist pulling her in and a hand on her back for support. He kissed her neck. If the fireplace wasn't burning Malphus would have asked why it was so hot in the room.

After they pulled apart, Malphus yanked Valerie from his bed with a huge smile.

"Malphus?!?!"

"Ohhhhhh, come on Mi'lady, let's go steal the dance floor!" Malphus pulled Valerie, she wasn't willing to go with him.

"No! You are supposed to be resting, you just got done with a fight!" Valerie was pulling with all her life force. Lucky for Malphus she was weaker than him, but if she wasn't he'd be forced to listen to her.

"Awwww, your no fun. Come on just one dance?" Even if she said no he was still going to take her to the ballroom. There was no way around this one.

"Ugh, your so stubborn." Valerie pouted as she finely started to work with Malphus and not against him.

"As are you, my princess in training." Malphus still held Valerie's hand, just because he wanted to. She wasn't pulling away, and it made him happy she didn't mind holding his hand.

They entered the ballroom and all eyes turned to them. Expect the King and Queen's, they were having a conversation, and No One would be able to stop them from having it.
