The King and Queen never figured Valerie was just a mere orphan who lived in a village an hour away, and if they did they hadn't confronted her on it.
After dinner, she joined the royal family in the throne room to be entertained by the court jesters. They were the funniest she'd ever seen, and it showed all over her face.
When it was time to go to bed, the maids had shown her to the guest room. It was half the size of Malphus' room, yet still too big for Valerie. She tried to force herself to sleep but after realizing she just couldn't sleep in the giant room alone, she slowly made her way to the prince's room, checking her surroundings every so often so that she wouldn't be caught by the staff.
Once she found Malphus' room she was so tired that she just got into the bed and slept right beside the prince.
During some time in the night, they found themselves wrapped in each other's arms. When the couple woke up the next morning they were embarrassed to have been caught by the maids cuddling under the covers. Of course, when it reached the king's ears, he was furious. For one he had thought they lied to him about the love they shared, and secondly, he thought they had sex while being underage, which could cause an early heir for the current heir to the throne.
The prince explained that he'd called her into his room that night, but only because he wanted some company and they had ended up falling asleep.
'He is quite good at stretching the truth, stretching it so far and wide that it is flat as parchment' thought Valerie, and she was right. He was able to get them excused and convinced his father that both he and Valerie were still virgins.
"Now would you mind telling me why you were in my room last night?" Though he wasn't mad, he was still curious about what she was doing in his room.
''I couldn't sleep by myself in such a large room."
"Well next time I wouldn't mind you asking to have a sleepover Milady." Valerie left early to avoid any more embarrassing questions on the topic.
It was a Saturday, so Valerie didn't have school. She was happy and sad at the same time. She enjoyed being with her friend and studying certain subjects, but she hated the looks the girls gave her because the boys frequently hit on her. Worst of all was OAK, they did everything in their power to make her fail school and leave, like stealing her homework (which she always kept back-ups) and telling the teachers she would like to take extra classes to 'be more productive'.
Of course, she had always found a way to get out of doing said extra classes, but it still made Valerie very, very angry. She found a way to make the girls mad without stooping to their level, she simply made fun of their hair, or told them they looked weird or ugly.
It tore the girls up inside. How could she get to them like that? How was she able to brush off all the petty things they did to her and insult them so as if it was normal? Those were the questions that lingered in Ora's mind every day after school let out. She had never once come to an answer for any of them, but she had a plan.
This year, the students of culver academy would attend a ball the royals hosted. It was the best part of this year which led the students to keep coming back until this year. Ora knew about this, but Valerie didn't. No one ever took the time to tell her, not even her best friend Dorthy.
Ora planned on going there with Oscar and leaving being the unofficial crown princess. She planned to wow the crowned prince and convince him to marry her so that she'd have the power to kick Valerie out of the school, she'd even be able to kick her out of the kingdom.
She'd be able to kick out any girl who would come close to comparing with her beauty out of the kingdom. She needed to become the crown princess and it needed to happen fast, luckily she only had to wait a month until the ball took place. She laughed at the thought of that ugly little orphan begging her to stay in the kingdom. She started looking for her dress right away.
This is what she'd been waiting for, this is how she was going to take revenge on that pest for calling her two-faced on her second day of school. 'She shouldn't have crossed me. She's gonna get what's coming to her.' Ora thought. Once she arrived home she demanded to go to the Fin-Whip dress shop and she wanted the prettiest most expensive dress they could find.
