She lay there on the floor on a makeshift in the room her children sleep. Thinking about today, staring at the ceiling. Internally laughing at herself in an ironic kind of way.
Satya...Satya...where did he come from? It's ironic because in the last eight years she never thought of him but in a way now she was realizing that he was always on the back of her mind and now for some reason, he is in the forefront of it. She can't stop thinking about him. She was happy they crossed path but the circumstances are more than unfavourable, he must have thought of her as some psycho criminal.
Psycho...? Maybe. criminal.....? Debatable.
'Seeing him, however, was really nice.... my saviour' She thought.
Her and Satya's friendship only grow after she stole his purple pen. That unconventional start somehow connected them, the connection was beyond age or like it was just was. Sometimes they share a chocolate or sometime lollipop but it was never weird seeing that they two grades apart. She was used to creating trouble and he saved her from it. She always felt safe.
Eight years ago...
"You can't just put crackers under principles chair, Amara!" Satay exclaimed, his eyes widen at the audacity of the girl in front of him.
"Ummm..." And she has the nerve to look guilty. It was the look in her eyes, they were wide and pleading.
"I truly didn't mean for it to happen like that, " She said.
"Really?" He asked her sarcastically.
"Truly, I told Ritesh to put it in the empty cupboard! And they were not supposed to realise sparks but I think and I am not sure but he said he might have accidentally left a rocket in it, " Her voice lower as she goes on and bit her lip.
Satya sigh scared for her. She won't just get in trouble. She will get expelled!
Amara didn't know how but that she really was scared not because it might get her in trouble. She didn't mean to hurt anybody it was just a harmless prank but that stupid Ritesh mucked it up. Satya went to the principle office sneak into it from the window and got the crackers out while Amara waits for him painstakingly. She hugged him and squeal as he came out without getting busted. From then on he was her saviour!
Present-day, Noida Delhi.
She woke up, thinking he will come and find her. He wants the truth and he would search for it until the end of the earth. She smiles at the thought, feeling the fresh air and sun started to get his beaming energy as at climb the sky. She prepares herself a tea, slipped into her tracksuit and left the building, she jog for a while and then on a wimp took a bus to New Delhi.
A hand come out of nowhere and yanked her to the back seat when she looks at the man beside her, she was surprised again.
"Are you stalking me now?" She asked.
"Are you going to answer my question?" He throwback.
"Depends on what the question is?" She said.
"What the hell you are doing?" He hissed.
"Well, I was jogging and then I took a bus...." She started and he glared at her.
"Jeez! Alright Alright! why are you so pissed? Doesn't the government pay you for enduring the quirks of Mastermind criminals?" Her eyes sparkled with mischief.
Satya took a deep breath trying to get his temper under control."
"Look I get it, I thought over it and you are right I have no proof. But I know you did it because nobody else can do it and as a friend, I am asking you. Why are you in this path? Amara, if you get caught your life will be hell,"
"So you are worried about me?" She asked softly looking truly touched.
He nodded sincerely.
"Alright, I will tell you, " She agreed with a sigh of resigning.
"But first..." Amara's hand touch his shoulder then trailed down to get off his white shirt. There was unknown hum around them, a vibration that they have never felt before. It made their heart race.
"What are you doing?" He was truly uncomfortable with the turn of events and he touches her hand to stop her but she unbuttons it.
"Amara, we are in .."
"India, so you are telling me if we would have been somewhere else. It would have been alright? Besides no matter, the country Public display of affection makes everybody uncomfortable" She said.
"Stop..." He protests as her hand slipped inside his shirt and he couldn't understand what she means by all of this.
"Relax, Your virtue is safe with me. I am just getting your wires out, I hate eavesdropping when others are doing it, " She yanked the wire out and his earpieces too.
She wrapped the wire in her hand to make a ball then she was about to throw but then shook her head.
"Clean India and everything, right?" She asked like expecting an answer and slipped it into her own pocket.
"I need your phone too, " She said, outstretching her palm and silently he handed it to her.
He didn't understand what was happening? What kind of hold she has on him?.... But didn't she always had that kind of hold over him? He is taking a risk, she would slip away again. He can't afford that.
