I awoke to the smell of smoke, Quickly racing to wake Christa up, I hit the emergency evacuation alarm. Just about every building has them these days with murderous ability holders out there. Christa awoke started and shivering a bit, she quickly realized what was going on and grabbed what she could.
"Christa go and help the others, leave this stuff behind, everything here is replaceable except you,"
she dropped everything and hugged me before dashing out of the tent to help everyone else. I ran towards the war room, Davey came to my mind as I rushed into the war room. I kicked down the door, busting into the war room, fire immediately jumping up toward my face. Beth laid in the center of the room, her forehead wet with blood. I needed to get her out of here, but for fiery reasons the door was out of the question. I aimed my hand at the window and fired a pulse of blue energy, blasting shards of glass into the smoky darkness. I used my belt to tie Beth's has, placing her arms around my neck. I carried her to the window and stepped onto the windowsill, preparing myself for the jump. I dropped out of the window, my arms pulsing a small amount of blue energy. I used it to slow my descent, laughing internally at the people who told me that reading comics as a kid, wouldn't help me in real life. I rushed out of the colony, covering my mouth with my shirt.
I ran up to Christa, putting Beth down while looking for Davey.
"Christa is Davey here, did he make it out,"
"I haven't seen him, melody. we alerted the fire department, they said that they were to busy to save an abandoned building,"
"Christa, I'm going to get Davey back,"
"Melody, if you go back in there we may lose everything. The colony will burn blue,"
"I can't let dave die, especially not to eric,"
I ran back towards the colony, unburdened by fear. The colony was already burning, Who brings it down is irrelevant now, besides I can't just let Davey die. I checked the war room when I found Beth, Maybe he had gone to the fitness room. I ran down the main stairway towards the fitness center, the heat causing sweat to pour from my forehead. The structure was beginning to falter, beams creaking as they shifted out of place. The right side of the building was close to collapse, if time was ever of the essence, it was pretty much in big flashing lights now. I darted down the stairs, drenched in sweat and smoke. I paused momentarily at the end of the stairway, eric and davey were trading blows like unwanted Christmas presents. They broke apart as rushed forward, Eric grabbing ahold of Davey and using him as a human shield.
"so melody has come to her senses, like what I did to your apartment,"
"stop this, eric you don't have to do this,"
"you caused this, all you had to do was what I asked of you melody,"
"You and I are even, I don't own anything else,"
"I have an ability and you don't, therefore you will obey me,"
"You and I are equal human beings, we have the same basic human rights,"
"Will see if you can still say that when your mopping up your friends blood,"
I rushed him, his hand burned dark flames. He thrusted his arm towards Dave's chest. His hand sunk into Dave's chest as Davey's body turned into dust. I screamed, energy began to build behind my eyes.
"ERIC YOU BASTARD,"
I released the energy sending him flying backwards. He looked up confused, as I rushed him once again.
"you have an ability, how... you were... powerless... a knave,"
"Not anymore, you god damn son of a bitch,"
I lifted my arm as energy pulsed around my hand, I felt it morph as my rage melted into remorse. The energy around my arm had formed a blade like shape around my hand.
"you killed him, you... bastard... "
Tears poured into my clothes, as I pressed the formed blade against his throat.
"I didn't know... you had an ability,"
"I guess you should have tested that theory, before killing my father... asshole.
The blade sliced into his flesh with a tear, blood erupting from his neck in gushing waves.
I walked over to Davey, who laid on the ground choking. I sat on my knees next to him, elevating his head to stop him from choking.
"Melody, please you need to do something for me,"
"Whatever you need Davey, if I can find some rope or something I could get you out... and then we can do whatever you want,"
"No... melody you know what I'm going to asked,"
"Davey... no I won't, I am not doing that,"
"Please mel, make my life have meaning... please I'm dying anyway,"
"No I won't do it, there has to be something else we can do,"
"Please mel, I need you to be strong and do this,"
"I'm so sorry dad,"
I fired energy from my hand, crying as the life drained from his life. It happened just as it was foreseen. I hugged my chest as I cried against his chest. I had only just learned about him being my father, and now I was the same orphan I was prior.
"I'm so sorry dad,"
I sobbed for hours, no longer effected by the smoke, due to Eric's ability. My body heat grew with my anger. If every asshole is apart of society, then I need to make sure that every asshole is dead. I screamed in anger as the entire complex fell victim to my blue flames. Society must be reformed, There is no reason for people to treat each other in such a way. anger and rage filled my heart as waves of flames erupted from my body. I would be the one to brand society. I would be the on to show them the list of their emblazoned sins, scratched into their skin, so that they never forget what pains their society from before had caused.
