"This place is huge!" Lullaby grinned, spinning on her heel.
Aphrodite laughed a little from her new recruit's first reaction. "It is, isn't it? Never really realized that."
"So," Lullaby slid into the nearest chair and rested her elbows on her knees, "when's my first mission, or whatever?"
"Hmm," Aphrodite frowned, "I don't know. Depends on whenever the console beeps."
As if it were psychic, the console began beeping loudly, but rather than being a mission alert, it was simply an alarm to get the team up and moving so they could meet Lullaby.
"Shut that thing up!" yelled Chaos from his room. "I've still got a whole thirty-seven seconds of me-time!"
"Get your ass down here, James!" Aphrodite called. In less than thirty-seven seconds, Chaos was grudgingly making his way to the central room.
"Do you have to do that every time?" he huffed.
"Can't turn off the powers, so yes," she replied with a smirk. "Darling! Siren! Silver! Come on! Get down here."
The rest of the Legion made their way into the room. Siren's hair looked perfect, meaning she'd just transformed back into human form; Silver looked like an emo teenager who had just gotten called to a family meeting, with her navy hood pulled over her head; and Vanish had his hands shoved into his jeans' pockets.
"Team, I'd like you to meet Lullaby, the newest member of the Legion." Aphrodite gestured to the brunette clad in pink.
Lullaby grinned. "Hi. I'm Julianna, but I'm guessing that you all just refer to each other by your made-up names, so Lullaby is fine."
"Tell them your power," Aphrodite whispered into her ear.
"Whenever I touch people, they fall asleep for a few hours." Lullaby said without hesitation. She gasped a little when she'd finished and glanced up at Aphrodite. "Wow, your powers are cool!"
"No they're not," scoffed Chaos. "Mine are much better." He raised his hand and all of them began floating a few feet above the ground.
Aphrodite's eyes narrowed as she tried to keep herself steady. "Put us all down, gently."
Immediately, the team was lowered to the floor. Chaos snarled at Aphrodite, but didn't try to show off again.
"Anyway," Aphrodite sighed, placing her hand on Lullaby's shoulder, "That's Chaos, telekinetic. He's a bit of a disaster." She gestured to Vanish next. "That's Vanish, my boyfriend. He makes things disappear. Then there's Silver, mentally unstable but extremely good with throwing knives, and Siren, always five steps ahead of the rest of the world."
The console beeped again, this time with a mission alert.
"Lovely!" Aphrodite grinned. "You'll get to meet the League, show off your powers a bit."
"Who are the League?" Lullaby asked.
"They're a group of...villains that look very similar to us, just with different powers. We're the good guys, and they're the bad guys."
"Makes sense!" Lullaby smiled. "I'll get into my supersuit!" She dashed off.
"We're the heroes now?" Siren chortled. "How naïve is this girl?"
"As naïve as I can make her," replied Aphrodite. "Now, go on, you all have to get changed too."
"Well, well, well," Jaiden glared at the other group as they stood on the docks. "Seems like you have a new recruit too."
"Hello!" Lullaby waved, standing on one tippy toe and grinning.
Chloe glared at her. "Why the fuck am I so bubbly?"
"Language," called Sarah, earning herself another glare from Chloe.
"You must be my double!" Lullaby cheered, hurrying over to Chloe. She held out her hand. "I'm Lullaby."
Firestone scoffed, but took Lullaby's hand anyway. Almost immediately, her head grew slightly clouded and her eyelids started feeling heavy. A few seconds later, she was asleep on the pavement.
Jaiden stared, bewildered, at Chloe then Lullaby then Aphrodite. "Good lord!"
Aphrodite smiled. "You're outnumbered, honey."
"So what?" Jaiden replied with a frown. "We could kick your asses if we wanted to."
"But you don't, do you?" Aphrodite strutted over to her double and glanced at her.
"I-I don't." Jaiden was getting slightly better at resisting Aphrodite's commands, but still managed to fall prey every time.
"Goddammit team, they're just standing there!" Peter huffed. He manifested a wall and began shoving them back. "They're literally doing nothing!"
"Quiet, sweetheart," said Aphrodite, glancing over to him. Peter's mouth immediately shut; he rolled his eyes but continued to push back the other team.
"Stop," Aphrodite said, causing Peter's arms to drop down to his sides.
"Is this just how battles work now?!" Marie huffed. "Honestly!" She dashed over to Siren, spinning her baton over her head.
Siren promptly jumped off the dock and into the ocean, re-emerging as a pale-bodied mermaid with wild, pale blue hair. She smiled and spoke a single word: Come."
Marie's typically green eyes glazed over as she started to walk off the edge of the dock, toward Siren. Lullaby noticed this, and quickly grabbed Marie's shoulder, causing her to collapse before she could hit the water.
"What on earth do you think you're doing?" Lullaby cried. "You can't kill her!"
"This is going nowhere." Chaos snarled. "Aphrodite! Let's go."
"Fine," Aphrodite replied. "As for you all," she gestured to the other standing League members, "why don't you all take a nap like your teammates so we can leave?"
Jaiden's stance faltered and she fell, followed closely by Sarah and Jack. Peter was the last one standing, with Aphrodite hovering over him.
"Give in, sweetheart," were the last words he heard before hitting the dock.
