It went down quick.
X didn't need to be a mind reader to know that only trouble was going to happen beforehand. Mini's movement, her eyes darting from one place to the other was an indicator. Perhaps, he knew what was coming from the beginning... maybe that's why the void in his chest swirled and thumped, a living entity screaming for him to attack the threat, but he stayed calm.
It is always better that way, to not lose control and cause unnecessary damage again. Instead he found a better way to take out his rage. Taking advantage of others.
"Not again!" Students scream after the bomb exploded.
X stays in his seat, watch the show, hearing the void in his chest scream at him to be angry like a beast, like a demon.
Mini snatches the little girl from her seat and drags her out the door. In all the chaos, no one noticed Dahlia cries for help in the classroom, but X heard and saw everything.
He gets up and grab the leftover child in the room.
"Hey—" Gem cries, as someone pulls her from the back of her collar.
Whatever she did or say after falls on deaf ears, as X drags her out the classroom. He throws her body against the wall with a hollow bam echoing in the halls. The girl tries to get up, but before she can take a breath of air, X grabs her by the throat and holds her up against the wall.
"You—" Gem starts to say, but X tightens his hold.
"Your sister has something that belongs to me and I don't enjoy people taking my things." X speaks slowly and coldly, two things the void in his chest is not right now.
He takes a deep breath trying to fight off his bloodlust. Breathe in and out. He needs to eat. Souls, he needs souls. Fortunately, his mind is clear enough not to drain the girl's soul, but if the twin's value their life then they better be useful after this event.
During the time of X's inner war, Gem struggles hopelessly to break free. Physically escaping is no good, but her mutant abilities? Why did it feel like something was slowly taking it away. It made her afraid, the unknown always did, especially when they escaped those bastard scientists.
X finally notice that his power is leaking, the void snacking on the little girl's power. The void's greedy little veins shrinks back into its black hole.
"Whatever happens to my little pet," X leans closer to the child making her feel the unnatural hatred in his eyes, "Know that your sister and you have a debt to pay."
He mercifully let her go, forcing her back to slide down the wall. Then, he drags her by the arm and follow the scent of Dahlia's blood in the air. X's heart finally slows down, too slow, while the world turns grey. The trail of her blood's scent in a red, fading line— he follows it around the corner to a door.
Gem, on the other hand, is powerless. She cannot even protest, as an invisible pressure crushes her painfully. She felt like a puppet unable to do nothing until that man pulls a string. He is no different from everyone else. The adults always want to control them.
Outside the door, X listens to someone fighting inside. Flesh hitting flesh, teeth chattering, and annoying screams. Does humans only know how to fight?
He strolls in with a limp body he threw over his shoulder like a sack of grain. and what does he see?
Two children really having it out for each other. The blood they spilled within less than thirty minutes is amazing. Blood covered their faces, shirts, and fists.
X throws Gem onto her behind, so she can see what her older sister did. Gem's mouth opens then closes, and repeats. And when her sister turns around, she is the perfect mirror reflection. Just as speechless as her younger kin is.
Unfortunately for Mini, it was not the right time to be distracted. Dahlia gives one last punch that knocks the other girl to the ground and jumps on her. She madly swings down on her, while Mini tries to protect herself with arms up.
X watches, but Gem moves quickly. Trying to separate the two girls without further injuring, yet at the same time, taking all of Dahlia's random hits. Gem wraps her arms around the girl, not breaking her hold as the younger girl struggles to break free.
Afterwards, silence. Later, whimpers. Then, as X smokes a random cigar from stress, Dahlia turns on her waterworks. Gem hushes the girl, who hugs her tightly and cries her eyes out.
At the same time, X nudges Mini with the tip of his shoes. "You still alive, kid."
The girl looks worse than Dahlia: swollen face, black eyes, and colorful bruises. For a second, X even wondered if she was still breathing. The girl only gives a grunt of acknowledgement, staring blankly at the ceiling.
X turns back to the other two children, quietly hugging each other on the side. "Hey you, what do you think of my child's face? I've forgotten to reapply my little glamour trick on her face, so it faded away at such a lovely time." X blows a smoke ring in the air.
Gem frowns before wordlessly pulling away from the teary girl. As her eyes land on Dahlia's face, X watch her expression unravel in horror through the smoke. The corner of X's lips twitches a smile, finding pleasure in other's misfortune.
"You are—" Gem tries to reach her, but X moves faster and picks Dahlia into his arm.
"Now, now," X moves a step back while looking down at the child, "You don't think I'll give her to you after what your sister did?" He nods his to the girl who fell asleep, tired from her fight with Dahlia.
"You can't have her!" Gem bursts out in anger.
"I'm afraid I can, after all, we made a deal." X drops the cigar and snuffs it out with his foot.
"How much?" Gem yells, half panicking, the famous genius of the protagonist's harem silently fall from grace with those thoughtless words.
Can he blame her? They just found her, they can't lose her again. The lost daughter of Dr. Omar, the scientist who saved them years ago from City A's secret facility code-named Deserters.
"Do you really want to make a deal with the devil," X says with a twisted smile.
Gem's skin prickles as if her senses are telling her to escape, but she can't back down now. "I-I'll make a deal with Satan himself, if I have to!" Gem grits out.
X only cackles at his latest victim.
"How naïve."
